Chapter 6
I wasn’t dreaming when Trevor came to see me at the gallery yesterday. He is back and he is sleeping outside on the couch as agreed upon last night. I did not know what he and Grace talked about last night since I went to bed quite earlier than usual. Things would be different now that he is back. Grace and I won’t be fending for ourselves anymore.
Moments later I heard something simmering and it really smelled good. I got up, wrapped a robe around me and tied my hair in a ponytail. I then saw Trevor keeping himself busy at the kitchen trying to cook some bacon strips and frying some eggs.
“Looks like someone is busy making breakfast,” I said as I took a seat across him at the kitchen counter. He looked up to me and smiled.
“I was kind of disappointed with how your meals turned out with me not being here. So while I am here for the next three months, you are going to work that appetite of yours up!” He put some bacon and eggs on a plate and handed it over to me as he went round the kitchen counter to sit beside me.
I ate with him and felt satisfied with my meal for the first time since I lived here. I haven’t had this kind of meal in the last two years that Grace and I have been having and all of that is going to change for the three months now that Trevor is here. He looked at me with his huge smile that could melt any girl whom he gave it to. I just wondered why I wasn’t affected by his charm that much. I just smirked at him.
“Are you going to be busy at work today?” he asked.
“I’m not sure. I need to check with Melanie if I have any appointments for today.” I took a sip of the coffee that he made using the coffee maker that we had. Even this tasted different. Was it just me or did I just hit my head a little too hard and that I wasn’t conscious about it. “Why?”
“Nothing much… I just didn’t want to stay here the whole day and get bored to death…”
I laughed at his sarcasm. He was not really up for a whole day inside the apartment alone. I tried to consider bringing him to my working station at the gallery. It would be nice to have someone giving you that right amount of criticism to improve my work. I stared at his face again and he was now pouting as if pleading me to take him anywhere that I was to go that day.
“Okay, I’ll take you to the gallery with me. I don’t want to be held responsible for the death someone because of boredom” I replied as I rolled my eyes at him while wearing a mocking grin on my face. He laughed and joked some more until Grace finally joined us for breakfast.
Trevor and I left an hour later and started to make our way towards the art gallery. We exchanged stories about the things that were left untold during the time that he lived in Australia. I also told him about the things that happened before I successfully opened and run the gallery. He gave me all of his attention which was very common of him.
As we arrived at the gallery, my assistants gaped when they saw that I arrived with Trevor. Melanie couldn’t help but blush when Trevor’s eyes landed on her as he greeted her and Audrey a pleasant morning. I told him to go to my office and wait for me there. Melanie couldn’t help but follow as he went inside the office.
“Your eyes are way too accommodating, Melanie. Stop drooling will you?” I tried to hide my chuckle. She was really struggling to keep her eyes on the computer but she just couldn’t
“Oh! How is it possible that you end meeting the most handsome men? Is he still single? How did the two of you meet?” Melanie’s eyes were filled with raw curiosity as she asked the questions.
I rolled my eyes at her and continued to check the calendar on the tab that she handed me. I can tell that she was just staring at me, waiting for my answer to her inquiry about the guy that made her blush the way that I’ve never seen before. I smiled at her as I looked up and handed her the tab back and left her with a wink and a teasing smile. She just gave me a sigh of frustration and crossed her arms in front of her.
