Job OR Jade ?

Chapter #4

Next day I woke up and turned off my alarm .

It was Monday ,and no ,I do not hate Mondays ,because why? Monday is just another week day that just happens to be in the middle making holidays seem so far away but I actually like Mondays ,you never know ,it may actually be your lucky day if you were a little bit more optimistic
!

I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower in only 15 minutes which proved to be a miracle since I always take long showers that usually would take at least 45 minutes!

I then hung my towel round my body and headed outside .

I checked my phone to see that I've received 2 emails ,one from the restaurant notifying me about an interview today at 9 , I checked my watch to see it's 7:37 .

The other email was from Jacob Andrew ,the owner , saying that the monthly rent would be due 40 days from today , giving me some more time until I get a job to pay upon my request.

See Mondays aren't that bad! I brushed my short ginger hair and applied light makeup with a thin eyeliner , mascara, and lip gloss, I didn't bother with my cheeks as they've a natural faint blush ,it's one thing I passed down from my mom along with the colour of her hazel eyes..

I wore a baby pink shirt and white pencil knee-length skirt along with my white flats trying to look a bit formal for the interview .

I then made myself breakfast and headed out once I locked the house .

Something struck me , I don't know where the restaurant is!

But as quick as this thought struck me ,another thought did ! Of course! I can always call Emma to ask for directions thus ,I dialed her number and then hit the call.

After about 5 rings I decided to hang up but before I could ,I heard shuffling from the other line .

"Hello?" Replied a groggy sleepy voice of Emma

"Hey Emma ! , good morning, it's me ,Jade "

"umm.. First of all I don't know a jade , secondly how did you know -oww jade as in the girl I gave a ride home ! Sorry jade did not recognize you at first but now I do,my bad!"

I chuckled , "it's okay , and I'm really sorry to call you this early but I just came here 2 days ago and there's this restaurant that I have an interview in for a job but I don't know where is it so I called you for directions "

"Oh it's alright, I can give you a ride there if you like just give me 10 minutes to freshen up and I'll be at yours "

"No,it's absolutely fine  reallybut thanks a lot you can just tell- " she interrupted me saying "don't worry I'm coming anyways I think I'm going to be late to work myself , it's good you called"

"Oh , thanks then I'll be waiting for you " I replied happily before telling her a goodbye and hanging up.

It was now 8:39 and Emma still hasn't shown up ,and just as I thought of that a car honk pulled me out of my thoughts, it was Emma!

I rushed to the passenger's seat and have her a side hug thanking her .

"it's called Joli Noir "i told her .
She was staring at me wide eyed before Squealing!
I stared at her confusedly ,not getting the slightest clue as to why is she excited suddenly.

"Are you kidding , that's where I work!"she said excitedly

my eyes widened and I found myself joining in in her happiness!

"You shall love it there , the manager's quite nice , well as long as you don't get on his bad side! He's quite leaniant but don't mistake his leaniancy into ignorance , in fact he appreciates people who work hard and prove to be independent and faithful in work , I think that'll help give you some idea about the manager , oh and he hates tardiness if it's not urgent then it's not logical to be late to work, that's what he says but other than that he's quite the fatherly figure to many of the people who work there and the staff is also nice and friendly as long as you keep away from mad max ,he's one of the chefs their ,and quite short tempered "She explained briefly while driving , and I'm really glad to know all of this as my tension eased a bit immediately.

"Thanks a lot Emma this all will really help ease up my nerves in that interview !" I said smiling

We made it there almost on time , it was a large magnificent restaurant, I must say! The glass windows were black but the people inside can see through the glass and look at the view outside ,small lamps hung at certain points to provide the black colored restaurant with a glimmer when it's night which is a brilliant idea . Some tables were outside for people who preferred eating outdoors , the tables outside had small vases with jasmine flowers that gave off a refreshing odour to the entrance of the restaurant whilst the tables inside had red candles that weren't yet let , all in all it was mesmerizing and elegant.

I followed Emma inside towards the second floor of the restaurant and then knocked on the manager's door , after hearing a faint 'come in' Emma headed inside while I followed suit after her .

"Hello sir , good morning ! This is jad3 Collins and she's my friend, she's here for the interview "

"Good morning Miss Emma and miss Jade welcome to the restaurant ,I'm Mathew Keller , I'm the manager here " he then offered his hand for a formal handshake

"Okay then I better be going to avoid starting work late , if you will excuse​ me sir! " Ella said smiling to me assuringly  .

I smiled back as she waved and left.

"Have a seat please miss jade "
I took the seat opposite to his desk and fiddled with my fingers that laid nervously on my lap as I awaited the interrogation to start.

"Miss jade Collins, The details I've received regarding you include Your age ,which is 19 , and you dropped out of college last year , you just moved in ,is that true?"he asked

"Yes, that's right"

"Very well, and what makes me hire you as a guaranteed person to work here ?"

I gulped as I started to quickly think of the answer to that dreadful question , "well, I can assure you that I'm a very serious person when it comes to work , I waste no minute , unfortunately I can not stay to work for more hours since I shall get 2 part-time jobs to help me with the pay and I respect timings so I can assure you that if you hire me I shall not show any delay in timings and I can handle all kinds if customers from the impatient and rude to the polite ones very well "I breathed out in relief , it's good I did not stutter while talking ."

"Okay then miss jade ,you convinced me , you shall receive your job here as the nightshift starts and the pay here is 600 dollars a month for part-time work and be here today at 3 in the afternoon for your nightshift ,as for now you can take a tour and get yourself familiar with the setting of this place and with the staff and feel free to further inquire about anything" he smiled warmly at me ,somehow deep within I knew that this man before me is going to fill in the fatherly figure I never had ..

"Sure and thanks sir" I saluted while walking out of the office , I headed downstairs, I was excited to tell Emma that I got accepted.

I spotted her taking the orders of a family and noting the orders in her little notepad  while nodding casually .

Once she turned na round she jolted towards me, "how did it go, are you accepted? Please say yes" she said in one breath!

I chuckled at her enthusiasm, "yes and I'm working in the nightshift for now I'm getting familiar with the place and staff"

"Wait a sec !" She then handled her notepad to another girl round our age and then came to me grinning from ear to ear like the kid she is!

"I'll show you around!"were her words as she dragged my arms pulling me along with her in our little tour.
