 It was official. This timeline was screwed up. First of all there was everything that was wrong with him, and the kid looked rather shaken, and he could've sworn there was... something else... off... But he couldn't quite place a finger on it.

He was currently in the true lab, underneath Alphy's lab in Hotland. He had managed to sneak in there without her noticing, he presumed she was upstairs in her room, watching some form of anime from the strange japanese words he could hear. Luckily she was too engrossed in her show to notice his entrance and his consequential slipping into her "Bathroom."

Entering the familiar elevator, Sans hesitated, his hand hovering over the button for a moment, memories flooding his mind... Floor ten. His father's old office... The scene of the accident...

The scene he hadn't ever told anyone...

He shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts before bringing his hand down on the button, the elevator giving off a loud shrill ding noise as the doors shut, the elevator lurching downwards.

The ride took a few minutes before the elevator came to a sudden stop, the doors opening again, dust-choked air flooding the elevator, causing him to start coughing. Obviously nobody had been down there in awhile.

There also weren't any lights on, nor any visible light-switches, so the hall was basically pitch black. He had alright vision in the dark, after all, he had to be aware at night of what was infront of him when he was running. But even he couldn't see very far.

He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, only to cough again. Choosing to not attempt that again, he just shut his eyes, reaching his hand forwards, ethereal white flames licking up from his upturned palm, lighting up the immediate area around him, allowing him to see a few feet in any direction.

Closing his eyes once more, mentally preparing himself to enter the lab again, he stepped out of the elevator, the doors closing behind him, the hallway submerging in complete blackness aside from his own light.

Walking forward, he found he still remembered the layout of the floor rather well. The large room for the more dangerous or more accurately more explosive experiments, his father's personal lab, the washrooms, and finally the living quarters for the all nighters that his father used to pull frequently...

He smiled bittersweetly... How he missed him. But he wasn't here for a trip down memory lane. He came here for something else...

He sighed, making his way to his father's old lab. This would hurt him. A lot. He knew that, but he still had to try. Stopping in the doorway, his hand hovering over the doorknob, before in one quick movement, he pulled open only to be greeted with...

Nothing?!

The lab had been completely stripped, nothing was left. He entered the room, confusion moving him into a slight daze as he looked around searching for anything... Anything at all...

All he found were a few old and crumpled up pieces of mostly blank paper, one or two discarded pencils, but otherwise there was nothing...

Except a large red stain in the center of the floor.

He cringed when he saw that, his gaze lingering on it, his soul twisting as he did. No no no he couldn't think of it now.

He quickly left the room, running across the hall towards Gaster's personal Quarters. Nothing. That room had been stripped as well. Same as before, when he searched, there was nothing there except when he looked behind the doors to the storage closet, nearly choking on the sob that wracked through his body as he took in what he saw...

It was-

"H-Hey! W-who are you? What a-are you doing here?" A voice stuttered out, trying to sound intimidating but failing slightly due to their stuttering.

The voice was immediately recognised. Alphys must've heard the elevator. He whipped around, bolting past her out into the hallway, much to Alphys' protest. He ran quickly down the hall to the other end, where another elevator lay in the wall. This would lead him to New home. He quickly hit one of the buttons, the doors to the elevator slamming shut, and Sans let out the breath he didn't know he'd been holding.

He knew that he probably shouldn't have run, but he didn't want to explain why he was there. But right now that wasn't what was on his mind. Silent tears fell from his eyes as the elevator ascended upwards slowly... ever so slowly...

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alphys jumped when she heard the elevator let off a loud dinging sound. That was odd... The only other person she knew of that knew there was an elevator there was Mettaton, and he never hesitated to announce his arrival...
Sudden fear gripped her soul. What if they found the amalgams?! Scrambling up, she jumped out of her seat and ran to her "Bathroom", pulling up her phone on the way. She had had the elevator fitted with an electronic chip so she could figure out which button had been pressed last aside from the lobby button. She sometimes had a hard time remembering where she had put something so she had had it installed.
Powering up her phone, she clicked the app, nearly dropping her phone as she did. There in plain numbers said 10.
But why? Why would anybody go to the tenth floor? That was the old Royal Scientist's lab...
Deciding to think about this later, and take action now, she reached for the button, hesitating. What if they were hostile? O-or what if they were-
No, no she had to do this. Slowly, she brought her hand down on the button, the elevator beginning its ascent.
After a few grueling minutes, the elevator came to an abrupt halt, the doors sliding open. Almost immediately Alphys noticed a flickering light coming from one of the rooms. Switching on the flashlight on her phone to combat the darkness, she continued down the hallway, poking her head into the room.
Someone in a long black coat stood in the middle of the room, looking around, slightly dazed. She watched as they searched around the room, finally coming to a stop at the closet, opening the door.
The figure let out a strange sound, their hands flying to their mouth before staggering slightly backwards. Alphys shook her head. She shouldn't just be observing... Though she would admit, that she was terrified. Another thing is that something about the figure reminded her of someone... That coat... No she had to act now!
"H-Hey! W-who are you? What a-are you doing here?" She asked, cursing herself mentally for her stuttering.
It happened so fast.
The figure whipped around, before racing out of the room, bulling past her and nearly knocking her over. They raced over to the other elevator, diving in before she had a chance to stop them, the doors closing behind them, leaving her alone in the dark hallway.
What... What happened? Who was that? And what was in that closet that affected them that badly?
Soon her curiosity got the better of her. She entered into the room, glancing into the closet slowly.
She gasped.
Inside the closet was a broken picture frame, a family photo inside the shattered glass, a child's stuffed toy... but worst of all...
a black bloodstained lab coat.
