I woke up thanks to the sunlight that had made its way through the curtains into the bedroom. I slowly sat on the edge of my bed my bare feet touching the smooth cold ground. I never really liked the cold. Ha yeah guess why.. Luckily my mutation could warm my body up pretty quickly.
I rubbed my eyes as a yawn escaped from my lips. Mornings who doesn't love them? Note the sarcasm.
Well time to change and practice a little, must be in shape for tonight. I walked towards the closet in the corner of the room.
Before I went to sleep Sabertooth was to lead me to my new room. It was nothing verry special, just a small room with white walls and a grey tile floor. There was a standard small one person bed, a closet in the corner a window with grey curtains and a small table next to the bed with a simple lamp on it.
Just a simple small bedroom, but I didn't need much anyway the only thing I do here is sleep and get dressed, so why make it expensive when I won't even do that much with it?
I pulled out some grey sweatpants and a black tank top, after that I put on some shoes and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I left the room quickly and went on my way to go and practice some more.
Oudside the wind was blowing hard, making my hair flying all around. I guess it's a good thing didn't let it loose.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. Trying to concentrate the best I could. When I opened my eyes I could feel they had once again changed to their electric blue color. With one simple movement I let my hand flame up. I looked around and saw a small white wild flower a couple of meters away from me. The wind was causing it to thrash around wildly, and it would have been almost impossible to catch it if it wasn't stuck to the ground.
I tilled my hand in the direction of the flower, concentrating hard on it's movements and when I felt like I could have a chance of hitting it I let my hand shoot away a energy beam.
I smiled proudly to myself when I saw I had hit it perfectly on spot.
Though it was just a flower, I didn't know if I could actually be of good help to the rest tonight. "Hey wow I hit a flower, now I'm for sure the most badass mutant all around." I mumbled sarcastically to myself. And now I'm even talking to myself, I swear I am losing my mind. I sat down with a sign on the ground.
I couldn't possibly be of any good help right? What could I do? Shoot a few stupid energy beams, yes that will help them a lot. Gosh I'm so stupid what was I even thinking? I shook my head.
"Having a rough time kid?" I heard a voice next to me saying.
I turned my head to see Toad leaning against a big rock, his arms crossed over his chest. I sighed again. "Yeah you could say so." I mumbled.
"I heard from Mystique you felt guilty last night. You know you don't have to." He told me.
I shook my head again. "No, no, it's not that.. It's just, I don't see how I could be any good help to you guys tonight. I mean look at me I'm pathetic. All I do is shoot a few silly energy beams, I don't see what's so useful about it."
Toad began to laugh at me, and I turned my head to him, raising one brow in confusion.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
Toad snorted. "You. Obviously."
Me? I just explained that I feel useless and he just laughs at me? Yeah sure makes me feel any better. "How so?"
"Are you blind or something?" Toad replied.
Wow, rude.
"Wha-" I began, feeing extremely confused. But I was directly interrupted before I could finish.
"You obviously don't see your potential. I mean come on, useless? How can you even say so? Have you seen your mutation? It makes you stronger, gives you a pretty good chance at defeating anyone that's in you.r way. And believe me there going to be a lot of people in your way. So I don't see how that's useless, everybody here can see your potential, So why can't you?" Toad explained with a smug smile on his face.
My eyes turned back to their natural brown color, and I nodded. "Your probably right I suppose.." I said softly.
Toad let out a laugh. " 'Course I'm right. When haven't I been? You just gotta have some more faith in yourself and your powers, trust me it'll be easier that way."
I let the words sink in. He was right though I really always thought so bad about myself, always afraid I wasn't enough. But I didn't know any better. I never have been enough, so why should I be now? "I'll try. I'm going to try to have faith in me. In my powers." I managed to say in a steady voice. I nodded to myself as I stood up, still facing Toad.
His smile turned into a grin. "That's what I'm talking 'bout." He said enthusiastically. He moved from his position against the rock and began walking back.
He stopped to place a hand on my shoulder. "Everybody here believes in you, now you just gotta make sure you'll believe in yourself." He told me as he removed his hand and began walking away again.
I turned quickly. "Hey Toad!" I called, as he was a bit further away.
He turned to look at me. "Thanks!" I said with a smile on my face. He nodded and turned to walk away again.
I turned back, thinking about everything Toad just told me, and the things Mystique and Magneto told me. I may have been worthless, but I could make sure that this time I would have a purpose. I would start believing in myself again. A thing that I had sworn to myself I never would do again. But I would now.
I closed my eyes again, concentrating on everything around me. I could train for a bit longer, just until it was time to get ready for the plan tonight.
I would prove to everyone that I am capable of being worthy enough.
