Demitri's p.o.v

As I drive down main street it looks like a ghost town. Papers are blowing in the wind, street lamps are flickering, and blood is splattered here and there. I drive up towards the guards station and I see the lights on. At least someone is here.

As I walk towards the door the guards see me and stand at attention. They are trained to stand at attention when a ranking leader is in the room. They stand with their thumbs pressed against the hem of their pants and their feet at a 45 degree angle.

"King Demitri, sir. To what do we owe this plusure?"

The guard asked me as I took off my helmet. I shook my hair a little and turned back to them. I can't go around having helmet head.

"Where are the Allied pack warriors that were in this village?"

I question them as I hold my helmet under my arm. It was a gift from my father before I was forced to kill him.

"They are being transported to the guards village sir. Our captain plans to question them there and then kill them off."

One of the guards said and I sighed in annoyance. Why? Why did I come all the way here just for them not to be here?! I swear if I tell him I'm coming he is supposed to stay put!!

"Fine, thank you."

I tell them as I slide my helmet back on. I'm furious that he left when he knew I was coming. He will be delt with when I see him again.

"When your captain returns give me a call. I need to have a 'chat' with him."

I said as I walked out. I slammed the door behind me as I made my way to the ATV. The gas is still pretty good so I should be able to make it to the guards village.

I turn the engine over and drive off. It begins to snow so I put my visor down and continue my drive. It's late October so this snow is right about on time. (Where I live it snows in late October and goes will april) I look up at the sky to see the full moon.

As I look back down at the road I begin to think. I'm 23 and I haven't found my mate yet. I want to be able to love and to hold her, to feel the comforting sparks, to hear her voice. Yet, I don't wish to place her in the cross fire between the packs and my empire. I don't want to see her hurt.

'Demitri! I have this strange feeling, yet it's nice.'

My wolf, Ruler, spoke to me. Before I could question him again he blocked me out and i was left alone again. I sighed as I didn't know what this ment. Would I be meeting my mate soon?

With that question brought up many more thoughts. What is she despises me because of my title? Will she reject me and go with another male? That last thought alone made me sad.

I hope my mate won't reject me. I've waited so long to be able to hold her in my arms. To be able to listen to her breathing as she sleeps, to be able to protect her from all her fears. To just love her.

I was knocked out of my thoughts when a force threw me forward and off the ATV. I landed on the ground with a hard thud. I look back to see that I hit a large copper and silver wolf laying on its side. It was panting hard and bleeding in some areas. Two black wolves ran out and began to nudge this wolf. A brown and grey wolf along with a black and bright blonde wolf slowly approached my weak body. A bright brown wolf and a golden blonde wolf shifted into a male and female. They ran over to the wolf I hit as I slowly blacked out.

But before I could black out a truly amazing scent filled my nose. It flooded my senses and made my mouth water. Cooked venison and melted chocolate.

'Mate.'

And I blacked out.
