CHAPTER 15
I woke up halfway off the bed. Eight months later, and I still wasn't used to a twin bed.
"Wake up sleepy head!" Catherine and Shay yelled. Yay, roommates. (Sarcasm.) I opened my eyes, and blinked.
"Andrew is here, and you are late." Shay announced, throwing a black, high necked leo at me, and nude tights. I put my clothes on, and dug through my drawers until I found a pair of booty shorts and sheer cover-up. I threw those on too. Shay was already braiding my hair across my hairline, and pulling the excess into a bun. Catherine was applying simple stage make-up on me, and after a moment they both pronounced me ready. I grabbed a bag with my costume and shoes in it, and threw open the door.
"We are so going to be late." He laughed. I smiled in relief.
"Please tell me you parked close!" He scratched the back of his neck, and I rolled my eyes. I waved at Catherine and Shay, who waved back from the door as I pulled Andrew down the hall, out the door, and across the campus.
"Good luck!" Molly and her boyfriend yelled, waving across the yard. I blew her a kiss and she laughed. We kept running, and after a couple more "good luck"s, We reached the car. We shoved our bags in the back seat, and belted ourselves in. We sat in comfortable silence, and Andrew reached over, and held my hand. It was almost weird how close we were without being together. We were quick to tell people we were just friends, but stage kisses were never shied away from. I looked at him now. Andrew was probably placing each move in his head, but I was trying to remember what audition was today. It was for a job working in music videos and on tour with some celebrity. I couldn't remember who.
"You nervous?" Andrew asked.
"A bit, but not to bad." I said. He nodded.
"Good, this one is important." He reminded.
All too soon, we parked in front of the auditorium they had rented a room in for the rehearsals. We got out of the car, got our backs and headed in, all without taking our eyes off the theater. I looked at Andrew, and like the rock he is, he grabbed my hand again. We signed in, and were directed to the practice room. I finished up my make-up in the mirror, and we pulled off our cover-ups. Then we plugged our iPods into the mini speakers, and began join the hundreds of other couples doing their own warm-ups.
We ran through our dances a couple times, and practiced every major lift five times. Finally, our number was called, and we nodded, walking up on stage hand in hand. Our chosen music started playing, and we began our dance. It was flawless. Almost.
Right as we began our second leg of the music, I did a triple, and as I turned, I spotted on a mop of curly brown hair. On my last turn, a flare of blonde shot across my vision, and I turned back to Andrew, contorting into his arms, and ignoring the desire to check again. The next time I turned, I was supposed to rocket my leg up to my head, while Andrew lifted me. We could do the move in our sleep, so a hazarded a glance in the blonde boy's direction. I quickly focused my mind back on the dance, and threw myself into the ending splits between his legs a little too powerfully. See, I was supposed to lock my arms together, and do the splits, pulling him into a chair position so we were face to face. But I did our ending move a little too quickly, and made myself deadweight by accident. Thankfully, Andrew was strong, and it only caught him a little off guard. He took a step to balance himself, but we didn't go down. I mentally slapped myself for my stupidity, and let him pull me up, taking my waist.
I stood with pretty feet, while the judges wrote down comments, and didn't dare let my eyes wander towards the boys on the end. We were dismissed, and he twirled me around, wrapping his arms around me in celebration. He probably knew more about me, but at this moment, he was too busy reveling in our success to notice how fake my smiles were.
"Well, the list will be down that way but I'll meet you there- I have to grab a drink?" I pulled out his hug after a minute, and smiled at him. He nodded, and I headed back to the practice room. My water bottle was missing, and after rummaging for a good five minutes, I admitted I had forgotten it.
I gave up and headed down a deserted hall, hoping to find a water fountain.
I couldn't find a single one, but I wandered farther and farther away, humming to myself our song, and thinking about our successful lift.
I was so distracted playing the dance over in my head, that I ran straight into a boy. I know it's a boy because his pale, muscly arms are wrapped around me, catching me before I could fall. The tango dip brought me back to another time, with another pale boy, but I shook myself out of it. To forget, I followed the arms to his face with my eyes. What I saw made my heart stop.
White blonde hair, bright blue eyes, same shocked expression as last time. Only last time, he had recovered, smirked, flirted. Now he just starred. I let out a little gasp as I realized I had recognized the boy in the auditorium.
"Addie?" Niall asked, unsure, and it was all I could do to nod, before he leaned kissed me.
