Chapter 4

I jumped over a log and looked back. It was a big mistake; I could see he was gaining on me. I was still faster, but if I messed up he would catch me.  He stayed hot on my trail, until his wolf got tired and he gained control again. I stopped suddenly and lost my footing flying into a tree. He runs behind a tree and comes out in a pair of shorts.

“I am so sorry,” he says, “I tried to control my wolf, but he forced his way to the surface when we were in that position.” He looks away embarrassed.

“No its okay, I let my fox take control when I shouldn’t have.”

“It is not okay, I could have mated your fox and you don’t know me well,” He argued. “I mean I have never been in that situation with a girl before. The pack females always went after my purebred younger brother.” He looks away and mumbles.

My first thought was wow someone this hot has never had a girlfriend! My fox chimed in with claim him now so he will never feel a woman’s touch other than ours! I shook my head at this statement; I mean yea it is rare to find such a handsome guy that is not a player.

“Have you ever kissed a girl before?” I asked before I realized what I was saying.

“Yeah, I kissed a girl in third grade and for a second it looked like she liked me. Then her friends came around the corner and she yelled, ‘get away from me you freak.' He said sadly.

“You are handsome, and my fox will not stop bothering me about you. I think she is taking a liking to you, but animals are a lot different than humans and are very desperate to find mates, but I am willing to get to know you because you seem like a nice guy.” I blurted out without thinking.

“Really?” He asked in wonder. “My wolf is going crazy in my head about how beautiful and amazing you are, he keeps trying to take over and mate you.”

I gazed up at him not knowing what to say. “If you think you can keep your wolf in check, and not bite me. I will get to know you better; we will be traveling together after all.”

After I say this he picks me up in a bear hug and squeezes me tight. Since I am a fox I can take it. He sets me back down and I can’t help but look into those light green eyes of his. I pull away and start walking again. He quickly follows me keeping at my heels, even in human form I am fast.

I have no where in mind to go, so I ask him, “Do you have anywhere you would like to go?”

“I have always wanted to go to yellow stone and run with a pack of real wolves,” he says excitedly.

“Okay, to yellow stone it is,” I said as we started walking in that general direction.

We had been walking only twenty minutes when I knew we were coming close to a werewolf territory. I could smell that it was probably only a mile ahead.

“Shift,” I commanded before I shirted.

                “Why,” he asked dumbstruck.

When he could tell I was not going to give an explanation, and when he turned he could tell how close we are. He nodded his head in understanding. Then he pointed his nose to the mountains that go around the territory. I shook my head no, it would take too long. So I trotted forward and waltzed into their territory.

I know it is not the smartest thing to do, but I am used to it and he just followed me. We were getting closer to the source of the smells so we were getting to close for my liking to their pack house. We headed in the other direction, but I spotted four wolves in front of us. They looked over and seen us, so I bolted trying to get through their territory as fast as possible. Damon started running a second after, but his wolf was fighting with him to turn around and fight them.

I turned and we were blocked off by a cave. So I guess we had to fight these mongrels, no problem!
