Five | Flashbacks and Beginnings

It was the start of a new day, sunlight was entering their tent through small holes and gently beaming on their faces. Raven was the first to wake up, as she awoke she had a huge smile on her face. She couldn't believe that Octavia Blake wasn't just her best friend anymore, she was so much more than that.

She was still her best friend of course, but she was also her girlfriend, her rock, her everything. Raven felt like she had lost everything when Finn died, or more like when she found out that he was cheating on her with Clarke. She never really blamed Clarke for what happened, even though it may have seemed like it. She was just so hurt when she realized that the only person who she felt that she was truly loved by never did. Sure Finn may have loved her in the beginning, but he never loved Raven like she loved Clarke.

But even when she felt that no one really loved her, Octavia never left her side. She put up with all of Raven's rants and crying, she had become her permanent shoulder to cry on. But Octavia didn't mind one bit. She would do anything for Raven, she was her best friend then, and now she's her everything.

Octavia went through the hardest times of her life on the ground. Which seems like they should be almost impossible considering she spent most of her life under the floors and then after she got caught, in the sky box. When the 100 came down on the dropship, Octavia felt free. She felt at home.

Octavia ended up meeting a guy named Atom when the dropship landed. He became her brother's right hand man, his friend and Octavia's new crush. She hadn't met many guys considering how she was living before, so she got caught up in the idea of having a relationship. Sure she felt things towards Atom, but none of them were love. She felt lust and attraction towards him, but no true feelings. It hurt her when she had found out that the acid fog had killed him though, she was a mess.

The person who was by her side when Atom passed away was Raven. Not her brother, not Clarke. But, Raven. Looking back now, Raven was always there for Octavia. No matter what was happening, she never left her. When Lincoln died Octavia didn't know what to do with herself. Unlike her relationship with Atom, she genuinely loved Lincoln.

When he had passed away, Octavia felt as if a part of her died along with him, she felt as if she could no longer live in a world where he was not in. Octavia struggled with the idea of going on without him, it felt impossible to her. She started to isolate herself, not talk to anyone, not eat enough, and she hardly ever slept. She trained constantly to keep herself distracted from thinking about him.

Until one day Raven pulled her over to a tree in the middle of training.

"Raven what the hell?!"

"Octavia you're going to listen to what I have to say right now wether you like it or not. I get that you're still mourning and everything but O, I'm not going to let you keep hurting yourself. I care about you way too much to let anything happen to you, ok?"

Octavia still thinks about those words daily. That's when she knew that Raven was different, she may not have known that she cared about her romantically, but she knew that she felt different towards Raven than she did with Clarke.

Both of the girls snapped out of their thoughts when Clarke walked into the tent.

"Hey O I've been meaning to- oh my god you guys are the cutest thing I've ever seen!" Clarke squealed when she saw the two girls wrapped in each other's embrace.

Octavia immediately blushed and gave an annoyed groan directed at Clarke, while Raven smirked and pulled Octavia closer.

"Damn right Griffin, we're the hottest couple you've ever seen" The brunette boasted proudly.

"Wait you guys are officially a couple?! I didn't know that yet!"

Octavia just grinned and gave Raven a kiss to confirm the newly found information for Clarke.

"Ugh it's about time" Clarke exaggeratedly sighed.

"What do you mean?" Raven asked as she tilted her head to the side in confusion.

"You guys literally always have each other heart eyes 24/7, and whenever someone would bring up one of you two, you'd each just start smiling at the thought of one another" She explained.

"Aww babe, you're adorable" Raven sighed with content as she kissed the other girl's forehead. Octavia's face broke out into a huge grin.

"Wait what did you actually come in here for Clarke?" Octavia questioned.

"Honestly, I came to talk to you about Raven" Clarke giggled.

"Anyways, I have a lady I need to get back to" Clarke winked and exited the tent.

Raven glanced back at her girlfriend, who was indeed looking at her with the heart eyes that Clarke had mentioned. Raven's stomach felt like she had a thousand tiny butterflies just flying about, she smiled at the fact that Octavia had that affect on her.

"Hey O?" Raven hummed, peaking Octavia's interest.

"Yeah babe?" Raven smiled at the use of the word.

"You make me really fucking happy" Raven said.

"And you make me feel really fucking lucky to have you in my life, Rae" Octavia added on.

In this moment was one that Raven could live in for the rest of her life. She was happy, content and in love. She loves Octavia, and Octavia loves her right back.

To most people Raven Reyes was a witty, cocky mechanic who everyone relied on. But to Octavia she was Raven, a girl who was there for her whenever, a girl who made her laugh and smile when she felt alone, she was her rock, her everything, the love of her life.
