*Josh's POV
One year ago

Melanie: Can you come over, I need to talk to you about something.

Me: Can we talk tomorrow at school? I have to study for a test.

Melanie: I need to talk to you asap, it's important!

Me: Fine. I'll be there in 15 minutes.

I knock twice and the door opens immediately, Melanie must have been waiting for me. She looks nervous.

"Hi Mel," I say as I try to kiss her, but she pushes me away.

"What's wrong?"

She bites her lip and walks away from me. Mel gets two cups of coffee and sits down. She gestures me to sit next to her. I take a sip of my coffee as she starts talking.

"I don't think we should date anymore."

"What?"

"It's pretty obvious that you don't like me that way, I know you like someone else. You never look at me that way," she says as she gives me a sad look.

"What way?"

"The way you look at Tyler."

I stare at her with wide eyes. I'm pretty sure that my face is bright red. I thought that I was good at hiding my secret. Apparently I wasn't.

"I...I...I," I stutter. What should I say? What if she tells everyone?

"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. You shouldn't hide it forever though," she interrupts me.

"Thanks Mel, you mean everything to me." And then I start crying.

She hugs me and we stay like that for a long time.

"JOSH! You're supposed to answer when I ask you something!" My teacher yells as she wakes me up from my trance.

"I'm sorry, ms Jackson."
