"Goddamn it Rob! You just met a cute boy who happens to be living in the resort with you because his family bought half of your family's company and you're sat on you ass talking to me!" Melanie groans, I can basically hear the face palm in her voice.
"Sorry to burst your bubble Mel but I seem to recall you saying that you wanted me to call you, hmm sound familiar?" I tease into the receiver, I'm currently sat by the pool splashing my legs in the cool water watching kids run rancid as their parents sat by the poolside trying to get a tan, talking to my best friend who's now having a go at me for calling her when she asked me to.
"Anyway, Melanie, who said that he's cute huh?" I taunt, "Maybe it's you with the crush."
Somehow using her 'detective skills' as she calls them, but really they're hardcore stalker skills, Melanie found Sebastian's Instagram and had already managed to look through all of his pictures just to get the down low on who he is. She scoffed before answering me.
"That's completely against girl code I would never." She mumbles making me laugh. She's lying through her bare teeth and she knows it. I'd be lying too if I said that I didn't think Sebastian is cute. His whole family is gorgeous, of course he's cute. But I would never admit that to Mel, or his face, obviously, I wouldn't hear the end of it.
"Cut the crap Mel, I know you think he's cute, maybe I can hook you two up." I suggest. I would never, he's a player but I'm more than happy to snatch up any chance that helps me get under Melanie's skin, we're best friends after all.
"Hook who up?" A deep voice asks sliding down beside me. I almost drop my phone into the pool at the sound of another voice. I juggle with my phone for a second before holding it against my chest in an attempt to calm down my heartbeat as I turn to the person beside me.
"For God's sake Michael!" I yell smacking my brother harshly across the arm. He fakes a whimper and scoots away from me holding his arm like I threatened to saw it off with a tooth pick.
I quickly regain posture and hold my phone back up to my ear.
"Is that Sebastian?" Mel quizzes me, not trying to hide the excited tone in her voice.
"Ha, I wish it's just Mike, the idiot." I growl shoving my brother again. He just held his hands against his chest in an attempt to look hurt.
"Mike!" Mel spoke gleefully, I can hear the sappy tone in her voice. Yep, she still has a crush on my brother.
"Melanie, stop that." I scorn her before giggling down the phone. "Anyway I'll call you back, it looks like the oaf wants something." I sigh, Mel says bye quickly and we end the call. I turn to my brother, straight up glaring at him.
"Alright buttbreath what do you want?" I ask kicking my foot in the water which splashes up into his face. He splutters and wipes the water from his eyes.
"Aw thanks little sister, I love you too you know." He cooes wrapping his arms around me sarcastically in a bear hug.
"You stink!" I laugh shoving him away from me, he just rubs my face closer to his armpit making me squeal.
"Michael!" I groan when he lets go of me.
"What?" He questions innocently batting his eyelashes.
"You annoying swine, what do you want?" I press getting up from my seat on the poolside.
"I heard that the new family showed up and you've already managed to fall for one of them." He teases getting up too. He clearly towered above me at 6'0.
"Correction, I fell on one of them, not for." I correct him wagging my finger his his face.
"Yeah, yeah same thing. I heard they have a daughter too." He adds wiggling his eyebrows.
"Ha yeah, she's 7. Mike you absolute pedo!" I laugh shoving my brother back with both my hands. He stumbles backwards his mouth agape.
"Ew." Was his only reply as he shook his head walking away, probably re-evaluating his life. I cup my hands over my mouth in an attempt to keep the giggles from escaping my chest. That'll probably control him for a while. Poor little Connie, she'd be a goner if she was my age.
I shake my head at the thought and make my way back to the pool exit, I need to shower and get to work, after all it's like 11am and my job starts at 12. I'm a lifeguard for the public pool but I do other jobs like helping out in the cinema we have here and I sometimes work in the kids area with the kids. You'd think that I get to do whatever I want but I actually have to abide by any and all of the rules for anyone hired here. But I still love it here and I love my jobs. Bonus is that I get payed a lil more. But don't tell anyone that.
Soon enough I get home and shower, I tidy up my wavy beige hair and only apply a light coat of mascara just in case I have to jump in after someone, but that doesn't happen often. I just don't want panda eyes. I pull on my red swimming costume with the word lifeguard written in bold across my chest, the lifeguard symbol underneath on my stomach. I slip my sandals on and place my sunglasses onto the bridge of my nose, wrapping a hair bubble on each of my wrists. I don't know it's something I do.
I make my way back to the resort and grin at Rhys and I walk through the gate. He jokingly wolf-whistles making me throw back my head laughing as I make my way to the pool. As soon as I get there I smile, not many people are here today, less action for me I guess but I'm ok with that. I walk over to the lifeguard chair where my co-worker and close friend Gracie is sat staring at the pool she looked evidently bored out of her mind.
"Hey Gracie!" I shout at her, snapping her from her daze.
"Rob! Finally!" She yells happily jumping from the stairs of the chair to the side of the pool in one smooth motion.
"Get up there, you crazy goose!" She huffs shoving me towards the chair where I'd be sat for the next three hours. I sigh laughing slight before climbing up to sit on the warm plastic chair.
"Thanks for keeping it warm." I moan sarcastically picking my leg off of the chair that it's now stuck and peeling from.
"No problem babe." She winks sauntering off to the lifeguard shack where the other lifeguard Hunter was sat stuffing his face with what looked like a cereal bar I just snorted unattractively and crossed my leg over the other slouching back in the chair waiting to be summoned for some reason or another. I caught myself drifting off to sleep and switched positions hastily. Soon enough I had someone tugging on my hand that was flopping lazily over the armrest.
"Hello." I cough, straightening up to look at the person tugging on my hands and funnily enough I'm face to face with with Sebastian who had his hair styled back into a quiff with a few strands dangling down onto his forehead, his hair isn't even that long.
"Hey Sebbie." I tease looking down at him since I'm at least six foot off the floor, it just so happens his head reaches over my arm and he shot me a playful look over the armrest. I smiled at him jokingly and lent over so i'm face to face with him. "Problem?"
"Just came to chat, I mean you look so board you're about to fall asleep on the job, don't want that now do we?" He winked sliding around so he's in front of me, he steps up onto the first step of the chair and soon enough he's face to face without me trying.
"I mean I wouldn't mind it but, oh well." I shrug playfully leaning back so my back touches the now cold plastic of the chair. That surprised me since it's constantly 20+ degrees in Spain. It's usually quite hot. For a girl who lived in England all her life it is anyway.
"Haven't you got a job?" I ask pushing my glasses up my nose, I know he can't see my eyes so I take the chance to admire his face. And maybe a little bit of his body, come on I'm a growing girl! I need the vitamins.
His green eyes really do sparkle just like his dad's a playful hint lingering around. His hair long on the top and short on the sides like most boys but not skin short there's a little there, it looks fluffy and my fingers itch to touch it but I contain myself and listen to his answer to my question.
"Well I do, just so happens I'm also a lifeguard" he winks jump off the step to do a little twirl to show off his lifeguard shorts and my mouth drops open. This means I'm going to be spending a lot of time with Sebastian.
Whether I like it or not.---------
