The next day, you waited outside of the classroom for Shoto to show up. You always sat next to each other during story time so you would wait for him so that nobody else would sit next to you.

He never showed up.

At first, you didn't think much of it, assuming he was just sick and had a 24 hour tummy bug, but when he didn't show up the next day or the day after that or any day at all for the next week, you began to doubt it.

The days slowly turned into months and you began to realize that he wasn't coming back. That you probably wouldn't get to see him again and you couldn't help the tears that spilled from your eyes at the thought.

Your teacher looked at you in shock, picking you up and sitting you in her lap quickly, pulling you into a hug.

"Y/N, sweetie, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

You looked up at the teacher, tears still spilling down your cheeks as you hiccuped slightly.

"I-I'm sad b-because-e Sho-Shoto left me."

You could barely get the sentence out without a hiccup interrupting.

"I n-ever even got to sa- to say goodbye."

The teacher frowned slightly, but didn't say anything else, she just pulled you into a tighter embrace, rubbing your back soothingly until you calmed down.

By the time you'd stopped crying, you had fallen asleep on the teachers lap and she sat you down on the floor, your head resting against the wall as she stepped out of the room quickly, going to the office to call your parents.

Before you knew it, those months had turned into years and you never saw him again during that time, but not once did his heterochromatic eyes and dual coloured hair leave your thoughts.
