"Reflection" a poem by (Danielle) - @saturatedsweetness
~
You remember looking at yourself
And instead of seeing beauty,
you saw what people made fun off
Your reflection simply wasn't your reflection
It seemed to laugh and holler
In fact, something that was you
Was laughing
At you
At your smooth darker complection
At your thick hair
And at your almost black eyes
At your beauty
Your own reflection ate at your well being,
joining the ones who surrounded you
You blocked them out
You persevered
And you succeeded
Now people praise you
Now your reflection mimics you
That stupid reflection that would beat you down is now a slave to the power you hold.
Persevere.
The praise from your so-called "enemies" is will make you shine even more than you already do.
