"C'mon! C'mon! C'mon!" Owen shouted, urging everyone to walk faster. "We're coming Owen, Jesus Christ!" Gwen complained, pulling her sun hat farther over her face, "it's so bloody hot...." All 5 of them walked down the path towards the sand and rolling waves. A sea gull circled above them cawing loudly. "Damn birds....terrifying...." Owen complained, jumping as the bird swooped down near them. "You're afraid of Sea Gulls? You fight aliens for a living but you're afraid of a bird?" Tosh jested. "Hey!" She cried, laughing as she jumped away from Owen who had tried to smack her shoulder. "Settle down children!" Jack said sarcastically. He and Ianto walked side by side, hands brushing up against each other every now and again. "We're almost there!!!!!" Owen said excitedly as he raced ahead of them. "He's like a kid in a candy store!" Ianto laughed. Jack smiled and put his free arm on Ianto's shoulder, his other arm holding a big beach umbrella. They stepped off the path and onto the sand, "Oh. My. God. what is this!?" Gwen shouted as she struggled to stand up, loosing her footing on the soft sand. "Well it's sand darling!" Owen said mockingly. "Mhm, well you're about to get a face full of it." She sassed as she hit him hard in the back, causing him to fall face first onto the ground. Everyone exploded in laughter, "Oh you'll pay for that!!" He grinned, jumping back up and chasing her around the beach. Jack smirked as he watched them run around, "we're here!" He called out, setting the umbrella on the sand and taking the bags from Tosh and Ianto.

After everything was unpacked and a blanket had been spread out, everyone came and sat for a moment. Jack looked around lovingly at his team, eyes lingering on Ianto before continuing, "alright kids, remember your sunblock, don't swim out to far, and our umbrella is the rainbow colored one." He said in a mock fatherly tone. "Yeah, yeah, ok dad! Whatever you say!" Owen said sarcastically before jumping up, flinging his shirt off, and running towards the ocean. Tosh laughed and followed him, splashing into the oncoming waves. "Gwen, before you go out there, come here let me make sure you've got sunblock on your face," Jack said seriously. "Ugh! You're not my dad! Bloody hell!" She complained but let Jack rub the white cream over her face before plopping her hat back on. "Have fun!" Jack grinned, watching her walk out towards the water. "Well, we're all alone now," Jack said trying not to smile as he looked into Ianto's eyes. "Yeah, I guess we are," he grinned, wrapping his arms around Jack. They sat together under the big umbrella, neither of them really wanting to be in the water. Ianto wore a suit as usual and Jack, his military coat. "You should really take that off soon, you're gonna get a heat stroke," Ianto cautioned, "it's some 90 degrees Fahrenheit out here and you're still wearing a big coat. You know your face is getting red and you're sweating like crazy?" Jack smiled slightly, "well if you're really that worried, I guess I could take it off." He carefully slid his coat off and put it into one of the bags, "now you take your jacket off too, because you're gonna get a heat stroke." Ianto sighed and slid his coat off as well, "There." They both turned to stare at each other and doubled over laughing. "I love you!" Ianto smiled, laying his head against Jack. "I love you too!" Jack said as he put a hand on Ianto's back.

"Jack when's lunch!?" Owen yelled as he came running to the umbrella dripping wet. "Shhh!" Jack whispered, "Ianto fell asleep, let him rest. There's lunch in the yellow cooler." Owen looked like he was trying to think of a sassy remark, but decided against it and just grabbed the cooler. Ianto was indeed asleep curled up with his head in Jack's lap, Jack balancing the book he was reading against his back. He had been peacefully asleep for half an hour now with Jack carefully watching over him. Jack watched as Gwen and Tosh came up from the water and joined Owen, a few paces away for lunch. Gwen looked up smiling and waved to Jack, he smiled and waved back to her. Then he looked back down at his sleeping Ianto who was starting to stir. "...what....where am I...?" Ianto yawned, sitting up and looking around. "Well my Sleeping Beauty, you're at the beach, under an umbrella, in my lap," Jack smirked, "want some lunch?" Ianto looked around a bit more, seeing everyone else eating lunch. "Sure. How long was I asleep?" He yawned again. "Half hour, maybe a little more," Jack said as he helped Ianto up and they walked over to the others.

It was now late in the afternoon, food had been eaten and Gwen, Owen, and Tosh had already run back to the water. "Look out there! At the water! Look at the horizon!!" Ianto said suddenly. "What am I looking for?" Jack asked. "Right over there!! Dolphins!! You can see their fins!!" He responded excitedly. "Oh look! There are dolphins! Good find Ianto!" Jack said smiling, loving how excited his Ianto was. "Why don't we do something?" He suggested. "Like what?" Ianto asked smirking. "Hmm I don't know..." Jack said in mock innocence, leaning in and kissing him. "We could build a sand castle....?" Ianto whispered in his ear. "What!?" Jack leaned back laughing. "A sand castle! A proper sand castle! With sea shells and drift wood!" Ianto said smiling. "Of course we can make a sand castle Ianto. If it makes you happy, I'll do anything." Jack said lovingly. So the two men got up and walked down the beach, collecting shells and small bits of drift wood, as well as anything else exciting they could find. "We need a bucket." Ianto decided as they sat down back at their umbrella. "I think Owen threw one in the bag, lemme check," Jack said as he turned around, "ah! Found it!" He exclaimed as he pulled a bright red, plastic beach bucket out of the bag, complete with a small yellow sand shovel. "Perfect!" Ianto smiled as they both began to fill up the bucket.

"There!" Ianto said excitedly as he pulled up the first bucket. A small mound of sand, molded to fit the bucket, sat in front of them. "That's lovely Ianto." Jack smiled, sticking a sea shell on top of it. Ianto laughed, "it needs more." And proceeded to make another one a few inches to the side. "And now we need to connect it." He dragged some wet sand in between the two mounds, turning it into a castle. "Gorgeous!" Jack exclaimed as he stuck another sea shell on it. "That's not where the sea shells go!!!" Ianto laughed. "When did you become a sand castle expert?!" Jack sassed. Ianto sat there for a moment before muttering, "yesterday." They both fell over laughing.

It was now sunset and all five of them were laying on a blanket looking at the stars. "It's beautiful," Tosh said in awe. "All the constellations and stars...." Gwen marveled. Ianto curled up closer to Jack, who put a protective arm around him. "This was a wonderful trip," Ianto said to Jack. "Yeah, I'm glad I got to spend it with you," He replied, turning to kiss his cheek, "I love you." He whispered. "I love you too." Ianto whispered back. They all lay calmly under the stars for many more hours before packing up and heading back to the Hub.
