APRIL

All four boys were currently in Niall's hotel room in Cape Town, South Africa. They had just finished touring in the country and had a flight to Dubai the next day.

"What do you guys want to do?" Harry asked, while flipping through channels on the television, "Today's our last day here, lets go do something."

Louis sighed, "I'm tired, let's just stay in." The other two boys nodded in agreement and Harry whined in defeat. He dropped the TV remote when he saw Zayn doing an interview. Niall stared intensely at the screen and Liam noticed. He wasn't sure if Niall was still upset with Zayn.

"So, do you have any plans for a solo career?" The reporter asked.

"Yea," Zayn cracked a smile, "I've been working with new management to produce a new album."

A mixture of melancholy and pride filled the boys. Liam even saw Niall smile, and he was glad that they no longer had to comfort each other on long nights when tissue boxes were empty.

Niall got up and pulled out his phone. Liam glanced at him and asked, "What are you doing?"

Niall pressed a few numbers, and put the phone to his ear. "Calling him."

Silence surrounded the four as the waited for Zayn to pick up. Finally, a faint "hello" was heard and Niall and Zayn immediately engaged in conversation over the phone. Zayn's words were no longer audible, but Niall's were, and he talked with joy and amusement in his words. He giggled often, too.

Louis and Harry had smiles on their faces, but Liam was experiencing something different. He wasn't upset, but he wasn't overjoyed to hear from Zayn. Maybe it was because of how he hurt Niall so much and now they conversed with such happiness, as if nothing had happened. Liam was bitter, but he wasn't quite sure what else he was feeling. He sat for a few minutes, surrounded in his thoughts.

He finally figured it out.

He was jealous. But why?
