It has been a few weeks since Micheal was killed and my father had Guy lock me in my room. I spend most days just staring out my window down to the courtyard just watching the day go by. My father and Guy have came and tried to talk to me but I ignore them, I ignore everyone including Maria. The only sound I make is when I cry and that just sobbing.

I am brought out of my thoughts when my door swings open, I look over to see Guy standing in the doorway. I turn to look out the window again. I hear his heavy footsteps walk towards me. He stops and sits opposite me. "You can not ignore the world forever," I look to him with tears in my eyes. "It's your fault you know? You said you would not tell him, I could be free. Micheal would be a live but you had to tell your master like the pet you are." I speak calmly with my voice wavering every so often and my lips trembling. "You know I had no choice to tell your father, Evangeline, he would of found out either way." He stands and wipes his hands on his trousers, "your father wants you dress and then join him in the alchemy room." He walks out of the room leaving me alone again.

After getting dressed I head straight to the Alchemy room. My father enters a short while after myself, followed by A short haired woman and two guards. In the centre of the room is a circle of hanging shelves, filled with various jars, bottles, containers, herbs, etc., and tables underneath them. The Sheriff turns around to face the woman, "Alchemy. Marvellous idea." He Walks around the shelf and table to the middle. "Frustrating results, but... especially if you're my alchemist." The Sheriff points to a small skull on the shelf. The woman steps to the side of the shelf to look. "This..." he pulls the skull off... "is my last one." He holds it out to the woman and she takes it and, seeing that it opens, does so. I look over her shoulder to see inside is a flat surface and a small, round, metal jar in its centre. "Inkwell, poor fellow. Good boy." The woman closes the skull as my father wanders on. "Handsome, a bit like you," peering at her over a shelf. "Soft hands." The woman glances at her hands, almost as if she is checking for something. "But his alchemy, well, it was wretched, depressing. I shall have to say, I was very depressed." My father says this as he continues circling around the shelves. "But then you came along with your wonderful Saracen... what is it?DJAQZayt al-Zaj," he whispers to her. "Well, whatever, hm? Liquid that can burn through solid metal." He comes up behind the woman and sucks in his breath. "Well." The woman quickly turns and backs away from him, as I stay frozen in place wondering of what his next move will be. "Who'd have thought? So... I want you to make me up a batch." He takes the skull from her  and turns to put it back. The woman replies brightly, "I do not know how." My father turns to face her again and taps the skull. "I need particular ingredients." The Sheriff puts the skull on the shelf. "I do not see them here." My father points to the guards at the door. "We have guards, over there, on the door. They'll get you whatever it is that you need." He walks around the shelf for the door. "You have, shall we say, two days?" He stops and chuckles. "Joke. Two hours. Evangeline, come." I lower my head and step up to him and we leave.

I sit at the window in my fathers room while he signs letters, pretending to read the book placed in my lap. "This mood Evangeline, is becoming annoying." He says to me not looking up from the letters. I turn my head to look at him, "sorry that my mood isn't up to your standards father." I almost spit towards him. He looks up to me with a glare, "have care how you speak to me, child. I will not have you disrespect me." I stand making the book in my lap fall to the floor with a bang. My frustration and anger shows as I angrily step towards him, "it is your fault I am still here. If it wasn't for you I... I... I... would be with Micheal. But you killed him!" As I finish my sentence Guy walks through the door. "I have more planned for you then a simple stable boy," my father replies. "You're a liar! I loved him, and someone who wants their daughter to be happy would have let me leave!" I then turn to Guy and point to him angrily, "you said you wouldn't tell! I will never forgive you! You piece of..." Before I can finish my father stands and slams his fists on the table. "Enough! Evangeline, I will not have this behaviour! Sit down!" The anger in his voice and eyes make a shiver go down my spine and I know that I have pushed it with him but I'm too angry to care. "No! I will not just sit back and listen to you!" My father looks to me with a fury I have never seen before and he steps forward grabbing my arm roughly. "I am sick and tired of your disrespect, girl." He begins to drag me out of the room and down the halls of Nottingham castle, I shout and scream but he doesn't stop. The servants and guards look to me in pity as he drags me down to the dungeons.

We get to a cell and my father has a jailer chain my hands to the ceiling. "Sheriff, is this really necessary?" Guy asks ass he steps forward. My father turns to look at him, "she'll never learn respect and I have been too lenient with her as it is." My father nods towards the jailer who I can't see behind me. Not soon after I hear the crack of a whip and a burning sensation rushing down my back. I cry out in pain as he repeatably whips my back, I cry out each time and soon tears are streaming down my face. Guy is looking down at the floor while my father stares straight at me.

It feels like days before he finally stops after a slight nod from my father. By the time that happens I have no strength left in my body, the only thing holding me up is the chains on the ceiling. The back of my dress is in shreds and blood pours from the open wounds in my back. My father walks to me and lifts my chin so I look him in the eyes. "Get her cleaned up." He says after a few seconds of looking at me and then leaves the room.

After he leaves Guy rushes forward and unchains me, I fall into his arms. He picks me up bridle style and carries me out passing through the prison. I spot Djaq in a cell and connect eyes with her. She looks horrified as we pass but soon tiredness takes over and my eyes close until I can only see black.
