Rose's POV

I had my hood pulled over my head, books piled high in my arms. I stare at the ground as I speed walk to my class, the sound of laughter filling my ears. As I stride gracefully towards my class, the schools hottest girl or should I say biggest bitch, Karlie, walks past me and "accidentally" bumps into my shoulder, causing my books to tumbled forwards and onto the tiled floor.

"Oh, my bad Rose. I didn't see you there." She states with a fake pout as she turns and laughs, walking down the hallway with her minions.

I sigh and roll my eyes, getting on my knees to pick up my books.

No one sees me. I'm invisible to everyone.

I pick them up and get back to my feet. Once I reach my class, I head to my seat in the back and take out my homework. Everyone is talking aloud to their friends. Every now and then, I'll hear my name pop up.

"Why does she have to be here and make our whole school depressed and ugly."

"She should just disappear and never come back."

"Hey, do you think if I dared Alec to kiss her, what do you think he will say?"

"You sound so stupid right now Cas. Its pretty obvious that he will say no. She probably has AIDS."

"Oh, we have to stay away now for a good reason now. We could get it."

I sigh as I held back the tears.

This is what I go through everyday at school. People judge me because of my looks.

We've been surviving off my mothers life insurance, which hasn't been very helpful because my dad goes out all the time and gets drunk. And my sister Carrie just buys clothes for herself. So I use the money I can to get ahold of for food. But today I feel like treating myself.

The bell rang and Mr. Cardon walks in, holding several folders and books.

"Okay class, settle down now. We have work to do." He states with a strong voice.

The whole class groans, except for me. My whole life basically revolves around school since, as everyone states, I don't have a life.

"Keep doing that and I'll make you read the whole thing by tomorrow and give you a test." He snapped.

He holds up a book that was one of my favorites. The most common book everyone's heard of. 'The Notebook' By Nicholas Sparks.

"Now, answer me this. How many of you have read this book?" His eyes scan the room.

I obviously read it. (Over a thousand times as a matter of fact.)

I cautiously raise my hand, his eyes focusing on me. I look up, everyone's eyes now focused on me.

"Why don't you tell us about it."

My mind goes blank as I stay silent.

I should've acted dumb like the rest of the class. He wants me to speak in front of the everyone? Like hell!

I just shake my head, hoping he'll agree.

"I'm sorry Ms. Ryder, but it wasn't a choice." He frowns.

I sigh and stand up, walking to the front of the class. I look at the teacher and he gestures towards the kids. I let out a soft sigh and breathe in and out, steadying my breathing.
