Chapter Eight

Dean's POV

"Is she okay now though?" I ask, pacing around my room.

"Yeah, she fine now. She's been stabilized for a while now. I just, I can't believe she did this. You knew she had depression the whole time?" Blake shook his head is disbelief, upset that he couldn't spot it.

I called Blake over not long after Rose left. He texted me earlier when I was with Rose at Burger King that Jessica tried to kill herself. She was found in an alley way, her wrist cut. She wasn't there long because right after she did it, the man came out and called the ambulance.

I stopped pacing and sat down in swivel chair, mad at myself.

"I should have followed her. It's my fault she's in this position. I fucken hate myself." I curse and punch my wall, leaving a dent in it.

Blake walks over to me and places a hand on my shoulder.

"It's not your fault Dean. She's always been like this. Sad that I didn't notice she was depressed, but it's not your fault. Jessica has always been one to take things the wrong way." Blake states, giving me a soft smile.

I give him one in return, but it immediately falls. We sit in silence for a while, until my phone's buzzes. I pull it out and see a text from Danny.

Danny: DUDE! TURN ON THE NEWS RIGHT NOW! It's that girl Rose. Your neighbor!!!!

I slip my phone back into my pocket and dash out of my room, Blake hot on my heels.

"Dude, what's wrong!?" Blake ask, bumping into me when I stopped.

I hurry into the living room and turn on the news channel.

"It's Rose, that girl that's picked on by everyone at the school and beat at home. Danny said she's on the news."

"Oh. Is she famous now?"

I punch his arm as he laughs, plopping down next to me. I turn the volume up as the reporter lady speaks.

"Today around 8:30 to 9:00, Rose Ryder was seen at Walmart with her sister. A terrible incident happened and Rose was sent to the hospital in critical condition. Here's a clip of her before she was sent to the hospital."

The TV automatically switches to a video. It starts playing and we see Rose, screaming at her sister.

"Why would I? No one cares about me! Why live when you're bullied and beat all the time? You cried about getting slapped by dad Carrie. I sob when dad tells me I'm worthless. I cut when other kids laugh at me, telling me to go kill myself. Well you know what Carrie," she pulls away from her laughing, "I should listen to them! I should listen! I'll go kill myself!"

She walks away from her sister laughing and walks up to a man.

"Do you have a knife?" She asked, scratching her arm.

The man eyes go wide as he states he does. She cuts him off.

"Give it to me!"

The man shakes his head and declines, clearly, scared out if his mind. Rose screams and pushes him back, demanding him to give it to her. This time he dose. Rose flips it open and walks back to the center if the crowd, tears now streaming down her face.

"This is for all those kids who hate me! This is for my father who hates me!" She screams, turning in a circle before facing her sister. "I'm going to see Mom now Carrie. I love you. I always have."

And in the quick moment, Rose cuts her right wrist, falling to the floor. The last thing you see is Carrie screaming for someone to call 911 as she holds her sister before the video ends.
