Braces

Kageyama wasn't happy.
It was the 1st day of them being third years and Hinata wasn't here. He looked everywhere, even in the back room of the gym. He was no where to be found. It wasn't like the ace to miss volleyball, after going on and on to Kageyama about how much he should be team captain instead of Kageyama, and he found it adorable.
He walked through the empty halls when he heard a familiar voice yell out 'NO!' Kageyama stayed behind and slowly crept to where he heard the sound, after a glimpse he knew it was Hinata talking to Yamaguchi. As much as he wanted to leap on Hinata's back he stayed hidden.
"Please Yamaguchi! You can't tell Tobio! He'll eat me up and forget all about me if he found out! Please don't say anything to him!" What was Hinata saying? He loves the ball of sunshine, why would he hate him?
"Okay, but I still think you're overreacting, I think he'd like that change Hinata." Hinata groaned and slapped both his cheeks ending up in Yamaguchi freaking out and pushing Hinata the other way until they turned the corner. What just happened?
"Why are we hiding?" Someone whispered to Kageyama's ear. He turned around almost screaming. Until he saw who it was, Tsukkishima, the biggest blonde asshole, who just so HAPPENED to be dating Yamaguchi.
"Jesus Christ Tsukki, you fucking scared me..." Kageyama said holding his heart. Tsukki smiled and put his hands in his pockets then gave a shit eating grin. "Looks like the ace isn't telling his boyfriend about his problem." Kageyama glared and sighed looking at the tall blonde, who drastically changed. Longer hair, contacts, and taller. Kageyama felt self conscious looking at the blondie, Kageyama grew taller and more muscular being the volleyball captain. He now parts his hair to the side, and can actually smile, he doesn't know why all kinds of girls confess to him when he doesn't even like his change, he reminds himself of Oikawa. Oikawa..
"Is he moving?" Kageyama asked scared and raising an eyebrow. Tsukkishima's eyes widened. "No that'd be stupid, King. If you wanna know ask him." Then he left looking up chuckling.
For the rest of the day Hinata completely ignores Kageyama, even during volleyball, and Hinata has never done that. He doesn't smile, laugh, or talk. It's like the gym has gone completely dead and silent.
"HINATA BOKE!" Kageyama shouted and saw Hinata turn, his face paler than Kageyama's natural skin. Kageyama pulled Hinata by the back of the shirt as he looked at he first and second years "we'll be right back, just keep practicing please." Kageyama said and dragged Hinata out. After walking a few feet he dragged Hinata to a back room of the school and glared at him. "Why are you avoiding me?"
"W-what?" Hinata said quietly as he avoided eye contact. "We're supposed to be a team Shoyou...don't avoid me...if something's wrong you can tell me." Kageyama said and looked down waiting for Hinata to say something, when he reached out to touch the boy's face, he winced away and pressed against the wall. Kageyama's heart ached to help the broken boy in front of him. Hinata had tears running down his cheeks and his cheeks were pink with blush.
"Promise me that you'll just get it over with and not try breaking it down easily.." Kageyama's heart tugged yet again, "Hinata.. that won't happen." Kageyama said calmly.
Hinata smiled at him.

And Kageyama's heart raced.
A lot.

Hinata got braces.

They were silver and dark blue against his white teeth and tears fell. "There, now just laugh at me so we can get back to practice!" But Kageyama saw the broken boy's fake smile.
"No, I think it's cute.." he said quietly.
Hinata's eyes widened and hugged Kageyama. "Really?"
"Y-yeah"
"Oh thank god Kageyama-kun, I thought you'd hate me..." Hinata said relaxing against the taller boy's chest.
"No dumbass, you just over think things to much.." Kageyama said as he pet the orange hair that tickled the taller boy's chin.
"Are we okay to go back?"
He smiled brightly showing off the braces.
"Yes, let's go.."
