Chapter 7

Damon and Emerald stayed at the castle for a couple of days discussing the other aspects of the otome game.

They went through all the routes or the routes Maya got to and remembered.

"Maya, why did Sage follow behind Emerald?"

"I don't know, he just appeared at some point. He only appeared in a couple of routes. He appear then disappear afterwards. From Emerald's memories, they haven't met yet."

"Hmm"

They were both standing in front of the castle waiting for Sage to arrive.

They promised to meet up again after the party. Both stopped talking after that, seeing a carriage arrive. The carriage pulled up right in front of them.

The carriage was worn and run down. The driver is a really beat down guy.

Sage helped a woman that looked just like him get off the carriage.

Sage didn't express his happiness to see Damon but his eyes lit up. He slowly sped up his pace to get to Damon faster.

Damon's face softened and spread into a smile.

"Sage, how have you been?"

"Fine." Sage muttered quietly.

Damon's face brightened even more. They had this aura around them that Maya had to take a few steps back before she got blinded.

The woman that came with Sage finally broke the atmosphere with a cough.

"Sage, would you like to introduce us?"

"Certainly, mother. This is Damon and Emerald. And this is my mother, Renee Sphinx."

Renee held a hand out to them both. Maya stepped up first to shake her hand. Damon was a step behind.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both."

"No, the pleasure is all ours." Damon replied politely.

"Damon right? I would like to talk to you in private for a bit."

Sage shot Damon a worried look, but was reassured with a smile from Damon.

They walked a distance away from the other two.

Renee was the first to stop and turned around to face Damon. Her face turned stone cold.

"Listen here, Sage seems to really like you, so if you ever hurt him, I will kill you. If you make him cry, I will skin you alive. If you ever cheat on him, I'll kill your lover and you afterwards. You do not want to cross me. It doesn't matter how strong you are, it will still happen. Understood?"

Her eyes glared at Damon with every ounce of seriousness. He didn't flinch or back away. He stood where he was, but his face has changed to be serious.

"I will never hurt him in any way possible."

Renee seemed satisfied with his answer. Her face softened up a bit.

After the talk, it was either Damon going to Sage's house or Sage going to Damon's. Emerald, Liam, or Fate tagged along once in a while.

Damon found out their situation and suggested Renee and her husband to get a divorce and come live with him.

He was shut down over and over again.

Renee always replied with, 'Sage needs to be in this house to go to the academy.'

Damon switched his strategy and just went to their house everyday delivering what ever they needed or wanted.

Sage and Damon's relationship got better and better. They told each other everything.

It got to a point where Damon told him about his elements. That seemed like the last wall between them. Sage replied back with how he has space element.

It wasn't just them, Fate and Emerald started to hang out after her stay in the castle. It seems she somehow got Fate to talk to her against Damon's wishes.

Maya had to beg for Damon's approval for a week before he gave in.

Sage hanged out with Damon and indirectly got him close to Emerald and Fate.

You could see the four of them all together often. They usually all go out of their house to eat lunch.

Sage also met Liam who quickly took a liking to him and approves his brother's relationship with him.

Both families, meaning Sage's mother and Damon's parents, have already set up a marriage contract between them. It was set on the day Sage graduated from mythical academy.

It was also decided that Sage would be in the combat section of the school by his mother.

Having his element known would be a great risk on him. Damon and Fate was fine since one was a crown prince and the other a prodigy.

The quad group spent all their time together knowing that two of them would go to the academy in a year.

Damon was standing in front of Sage's house ready to say his goodbyes. He had already said goodbye to his parents, brother, and Maya.

As for Fate, he had gone ahead.

Damon knocked on the door. He heard footsteps rushing to the door, but seemed to slow down just before it got there.

The door opened revealing Sage in a blue bottoms up shirt and a pair of white pants.

Sage didn't waste time and hugged Damon. They stayed that way for a long time, relishing in the moment.

Both knew that they wouldn't meet for a long time.

"I really wish I could visit you."

"I know, but the school has its rules."
Damon lightly threaded his hand through Sage's hair as a show of comfort.

"Yeah, would you like to say goodbye to mother?" Sage murmured into his shoulder.

"Yes, I would."

They separated, both walked hand in hand upstairs. Sage gently knocked on a red door at the very end of the hall.

"Come in."

Pushing the door open, they walked into the furnished room.

"Madam, I'm here to say goodbye before heading to school."

She didn't turn around, but nodded her head. They walked back out and gently shut the door.

Damon lead Sage downstairs. He softly pulled Sage into his arms again.

Minutes passed before Damon took a step back, but his arms stayed around his waist. He leaned his forehead against Sage instead.

He closed his eyes and whispered, "I'm going to miss you"

"And I you, too."

The scene was peaceful and serene.

Damon leaned forward and took a peck on Sage's cheek. Then finally fully pulled away. Sage stared as Damon walked out the door and onto his carriage.
