"I'll clean it up."----
Michael woke up and felt like everything was coming down on top of him. He tried to even his breaths and noticed Gavin wasn't sleeping next to him. That made him frown a bit and push out of bed. He slouched slightly as he walked, the weight just too heavy for him to stand straight. The smell of coffee and tea hit him and he breathed it in as he walked. His feet lead him to the kitchen and that's where he found Gavin sitting on the counter, a mug in his hand. He smiled slightly and handed a mug to Michael, "It's just how you like it." Michael smiled and took the mug, leaning against the counter as he faced Gavin. He took a sip and let the warm liquid soothe him, though it never did.
"We've got a day off today," Gavin told him, "I thought you might enjoy that." Michael nodded and showed the slightest hint of a smile. He saw Gavin frown and he knew what was coming. "Don't," Michael said and stopped him before he asked, "Don't ask me that shit because you already know the answer." Gavin frowned more and sat his now empty mug on the counter next to him. Michael sat his mug down and started to walk back to the bedroom. He knew he left Gavin on the counter with all his concerns, but he couldn't stand all the questions. Michael pulled on some clean clothes and was in the midst of tugging his jacket on when he heard footsteps.
Turning to the doorway, he saw an upset Gavin staring back at him. "Where are you going?" Gavin asked him. "I just need to take a walk," Michael told him, "Clear my head and shit." Before Gavin could even form a sentence, Michael had grabbed his phone and walked out the door. He felt bad for walking out on Gavin like that when he just wanted to help. His mind was buzzing and he could feel a headache coming on. Michael kept walking -kept thinking- without a plan of where he was going. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and sighed. Michael glanced up and frowned a bit at the dark clouds forming overhead. He looked back down and started to walk home, hoping to not get caught in the rain.
Though, if fate may have it out for Michael Jones and everything he stands for, it started raining. Pouring down so hard that it stung his bare arms. He should've worn a jacket. He could feel his clothes sticking to his skin in that terribly annoying way that made it hard to move. His hair flattened and stuck to his forehead as he began to run up the driveway. He grabbed at the knob of the front door and swung it open. As he went to shut the door, he kicked off his shoes. He turned to see Gavin jump up from the couch, the weather channel on the TV.
Michael frowned a bit as he looked at the worried expression on Gavin's face. "Stop staring and go get me a fucking towel, would ya?" It only took Gavin a few seconds to register Michael's words before he rushed to the closet. Michael started to peel his soaked shirt off and tossed it next to the door with his shoes. He tugged off his pants too, grimacing at the way the soaked jean material felt. He managed to get his wet socks off before Gavin came back with a towel. Michael thanked him and started to dry off. Gavin picked up Michael's wet clothes and went to throw them in the dryer. Michael started to make way to his way to the bedroom to grab some dry boxers to change into.
He put on warm clothes, as he was shivering. The wet clothes and the air conditioning was not an ideal combination. Michael started to dry off his hair as best as he could without using the hair dryer that Gavin left here. He sighed as he glanced in the mirror on the dresser. His hair was a curly, half-dry mess. He ran a hand through it and ruffled it slightly. Michael rolled his eyes a bit at the way it stuck out before grabbing his glasses off the dresser and putting them on. He felt like he should go talk to Gavin. Michael started to walk out towards the kitchen. He heard a hiss and sped up a bit.
"Gavin?" Michael called out as he walked into the kitchen. Gavin spun around and smiled a bit. "What are you doing?" Gavin glanced back at the pot on the stove and back at Michael, "I'm making us some hot chocolate." Michael raised a brow, "Why?" Gavin shrugged and stirred the brown liquid in the pot. Michael noticed the chocolate smell filling the room and smiled a bit. "It's something my mum used to do whenever I got cold back home," Gavin explained and turned off the burner, pouring the liquid into two separate mugs. Michael held the mug close when Gavin handed one to him. "How about we take these to the couch and watch movies?" Gavin suggested and Michael nodded.
They had gotten through two movies and three cups of hot chocolate. There was a small, makeshift blanket fort on the floor they had made at some point. Michael was feeling much better. He was starting to roll onto his side when he accidentally knocked over his half empty mug. "Fuck," he mumbled and went to pick it up. He sighed when he noticed the hot chocolate seeping into the carpet. "I'll clean it up," Gavin said and got up. Michael barely had time to look up from the spill before Gavin was bent down cleaning it. "You didn't have to do that," Michael said and sat up. Gavin shrugged and finished scrubbing, tossing a towel over it and drying the spot. Michael smiled a bit at Gavin and watched as he got up to put the cleaning supplies away, as well putting the mugs in the sink.
Gavin came back over to the fort and Michael pulled him inside. Gavin fell back onto the floor next to Michael and squawked a bit. Michael chuckled and laid his head on Gavin's thigh. Gavin smiled a bit at him and ran his hand through Michael's now dry hair. They were silent for a bit and neither cared. Michael thought back to before when he would have shoved Gavin off. When he wouldn't put up with pet names and all the touching. He was never one for the lovey-dovey stuff, but somehow it was different with Gavin. He craved the touch and the dumb names. Gavin leaned down and pressed a kiss to Michael's forehead, "Are you feeling better?" "Much," Michael smiled a bit and leaned into his touch.
