The bell rings and everyone shuffles out of their seats. Mr. R is muffled in the back, trying to yell out homework he knows none of us will do. These hallways are always packed, all of us elbow-to-elbow like sardines. I slide over to my locker and spin the lock, hearing the delightful click, my hand swings open the door. Stuffing my books inside I sighed, moved my hair behind my ear and grabbed my lunch.
Down the field I see Bluebird and his gang, Steve was the first to notice me being lonesome, and waved me over. I started to speed walk my way over, when someone suddenly shoulders me, and continues walking the opposite direction of me. My head spins around with a scolding look plastered on my face, but the look quickly fades when I see it was Mark, shuffling along by himself. Before I can reach for him Bluebird puts his arm around my neck, and pulls me towards his group.
"We have decided we will be having a party tonight." His eyes focus on me, "at my place," he quickly finishes.
Jake runs up to me, noticing I was not 100% for the idea, "more of a small get together!" I raise my eyebrow, still not convinced.
But the more the idea swam around in my mind, the more it appealed to me, "if you say so," I started to think of ways to convince my parents, "whose house?"
"Mine," Jennifer says in her monotone voice, "both parents have some kind of overnight thing at their work. I don't know, they won't be home, ok?"
I nod, devising a plan for getting out of the house. In unison, they move over to a near by picnic table, and plop themselves down. Bluebird smiles nicely at me, and pats the open spot beside him, and I slid right next to him.
These people know everything. Every drop of drama in this school is all poured out here, every breakup, every crush, every secret. They all willingly told me.
"You know what I heard?" Ashley perked up, at her thought, as she continued she silenced the group, "I heard Blue here has a little crush!"
My eyes widen as I turned towards his freshly red face.
"That's not true!" He snapped back, denying this statement.
"Oh, I'm not done," she smirked, " I also heard, she likes him back."
Now his eyes widen, and I could fell my face get hot. She couldn't be talking about me right? Does Bluebird like me? My heart starts to lift and butterflies are swarming in my stomach. I was eager to know more, my lips began to move when they were interrupted by the bell.
Bluebird was the first to get up, his face hiding excitement horribly. The others didn't seem like they were going to move, so I got up and walked to the next class.
I didn't see Bluebird walking home, but sometimes he hung out with his own gang. My earbuds were popped into my ears as I scrolled through the playlist he made. Biting my lip to contain my laughter I put on "Fergalicious" mouthing the words, I walked back to my house.
"Mom?" I shouted as the front door behind me slammed, "My friends are having a study session, then sleepover tonight, may I go?" My eyes squeezed shut, in anticipation, for the response.
"Sure," she sighed mumbling something under her breath.
"Thanks!" I yelled back cheerily, racing up the stairs.
Is it really a small get together? I wondered holding two dresses in front of m, eyeing each one down. One was more for a party, tight, short, and a vibrant red. The other, was more of a small get together look, loose, white, with small flowers painted on. Then it hit me, if my mom sees me wearing the red one to a "study group" she will know something's up.
"Guess we are going with you!" I throw the red one behind me, and take the other off the hanger and slip it on. I don't bother applying makeup, because it takes too long, I don't really know how, and it will be ruined in the morning. My shoes are black flats, it hurts my feet too much to wear heels, plus I'm already clumsy as is. I swing a small bag around my shoulder and place inside my phone and some money in case something happens.
I sneak down the stairs, and slide out the door way. My lungs fill with air, as I take a deep breath of fresh air, and I try to shake off the nerves. As I think about Bluebird and his crush, my face begins to turn red again. Don't get your hopes up, no matter how much you want it to be you, it's probably not going to be. And my feet start to march towards Jennifer's house.
My face turns white as I approach the house, small get together?
Music blasts out every window and door, people make out outsides, red solo cups fill the lawn, and people shoulder to shoulder inside.
Oh boy.(A/N sorry it took so long to get this out, I'm trying to get them out more often, but I goofed. Sorry againnnnnn)
