Liam warms the soup on the hob, something about microwaved soup is just gross. He stares down into the bubbling red, thinking about Sally. Sally and Noel. Noel. Noel and Sara.

She said it. Sally said she loved him. Shaking his head, Liam sighs and pours the ready soup into a bowl, grabbing a spoon. Holding it carefully, he keeps an eye on it as he walks into the bedroom and he looks up, startling.

It's empty. Her clothes are gone, the bed neatly made.

Sally's gone.

And on the bed, in her neat handwriting is a note:

Thank you
X

Letting herself into Noel's flat, full of purpose, Sally heads straight into the bedroom, getting her duffel bag from the wardrobe and starts stuffing it with her clothes. She collects her toiletries from the bathroom. She packs away her make up. She pours away the milk and bins the food. She sweeps and hovers and polishes. Changes the sheets. She takes her new flat key and puts it on her key rings, removing Noel's key.

The only evidence she was ever there is the solitary key on the table. She smiles sadly at it before putting the chib across and leaving.

I am giving up one of my dreams today
After I held him and begged him to stay
And after my dream had drown out to a whisper
After I've burnt all the photo booth pictures

And after I erased our names from the sky
Stopped wondering how and asking why
Oh I wish I had words to encourage inspire
But the truth is I'm wrecked and I'm sad and I'm tired
I'm a loser in love, an abandoner of dreams
And today I gave up the one for him, and me.
