The only kingdom that survived had been abandoned long before the war started. It was unruled and overgrown with wildlife. Mutated animals resided there, such as butterflies with three wings and cats with six heads, since the water was polluted from the other kingdom's sewage. The survivors of the war with plentiful money moved to the Fallen Kingdom, which they created a new democracy; only one couple would rule, while their offspring ruled the next generation. The villagers would vote what would be best for one another and the other kingdoms as they were built. Callista and Hugo moved into a large cottage, while Alexander was thrown into the palace cell. Jamettus and Cleremunda were dead, as well as the other rulers of the other kingdoms.
Almon and Zahannah were the new, true King and Queen. They happily married and were expecting their first child. Almon was very protective of his wife. She visited Hugo and Callista often to check in on them. One day, she brought Almon along.
"Should we bring them a pie?" Zahannah asked Almon as she rubbed her plump stomach.
"Yes. Callista likes pie, I think."
"Oh, then let's bring multiple pies," Zahannah smiled. He kissed her neck softly as he hugged her. She ran her fingers through his hair, then smiled brighter. He let go of her and returned the smile. "I love you so much, Almon. It's pretty crazy."
"I love you just as much. Now let's get a move on."
They rode horses to Callista and Hugo's home. A beautiful garden flourished in their front yard. Zahannah smiled when she saw it. Callista greeted them at the door, smiling. She was a bit different than before- quieter and sweeter. Cleremunda's death really rattled her.
"Hello, Cal," Zahannah greeted as she slipped off her horse.
"Hi, Zahannah."
"How're you feeling?" Zahannah handed her the pies.
"I'm alright." She smiled at the food. "Thank you. How have you been?"
"Pregnant." She laughed lightly. Almon walked up to them and smiled at Callista. Hugo waved to the couple.
"Hello!" He chirped.
"Hi there, Hugo," Zahannah called. Callista stepped back shyly to hug him. Hugo gave her a big, wet kiss on her forehead. She smiled at him.
"Come in, guys," Callista said to Zahannah and Almon. Zahannah stepped into their cottage. Callista rubbed her arm and smiled again.
"This is such a cute house," Zahannah said as she sat on one of their couches.
"Thank you," Callista replied. "It's adorable. I love it."
Zahannah smiled sadly. "Cleremunda would've loved it, too." Callista said nothing. Her eyes got that look again- the color suddenly looked very plain and glossy. Zahannah's mouth went dry. "She never deserved it. That girl loved you to death, Callista. She loved Alexander just as much, although she didn't have the time to show him it. Jamettus didn't deserve death, either. He was certainly an asshole most of his life, but his main goal in life was to love you. And he sure did."
Callista went to speak, but ended up running to her room instead. Almon frowned. "She wasn't ready to hear that...."
"Neither was I," Hugo whimpered, then stood up to follow Callista.
Zahannah crossed her arms, then leaned back into her seat. "I'm so sorry. The world is cruel. But karma exists- Alexander destroyed the world, so the world destroyed the only thing he loved."
