As I woke up, Amy pinched my nose. I carried her down the tree and fed her some cranberries. I gave her creek water to drink. She should've starved and died if we didn't come to her. I remembered the note. I wonder who M ch l or e i is. I wondered how he even wrote it. There are no pens around here. I started jogging around, to keep fit. I can't get slow and fat. I jogged over the creek and went forward. I heard someone. It was a guy. I looked at his face. Oh-no. It was dumb-smug face guy from the first day. The guy who pushed me and called me a slowpoke. He had the fiery red eyes. This guy is bad news. I looked at Amy. Her face darkened. SHE WAS ABOUT TO CRY. I put my finger on her lips. She pulled my finger away and started bawling. The guy turned around and stared at me. He grinned. He started running after me. I tried to run faster, but Amy was too heavy. His hand was inches away from my back. I ran across the creek. As I made to the other side, I heard a scream. I turned around. The guy had slipped on the creek. He grabbed his leg. He was screaming in pain. The creek water turned a blood red. There was a giant cut on his leg. He glared at me. He had a deadly look on his face. He started crawling out of the creek. I ran back to the tree. I woke up Jae Eun and Sung Min. "No time to talk, grab everything and run" I panted. Sung Min grabbed all the crayfish and stuffed them in his pockets. Jae Eun grabbed Amy's basket. I looked back at the guy. He struggled to stand up, but he was madder than ever. We ran away from him as he limped toward us. He seemed to forget his pain and ran faster than ever. Sung Min picked up a pebble and threw it at dumb-smug dude. It hit his injured leg. He cried of pain. He wasn't just gonna catch us, he was going to kill us. He dropped to his knees. His face hit the mud. Sung Min was scared half to death. "그가 죽었 니?" he quivered. I looked back at dumb-smug dude. He was breathing. We were silent for a while. Then we started walking forward. We didn't know where we were going. We didn't ask where we were going. As long as it was away from him. Now I can tell everybody I almost murdered somebody. Yay. I looked at the ground while I walked. Occasionally, I would look back to see if the dumb-smug dude was following us. He wasn't. I looked back at the ground. There were twigs and grasshoppers. I heard Jae Eun gasp. Sung Min was barely breathing. I looked up to see what was 'so' shocking. My jaw dropped and hit the ground. There was a giant wall. Yeah. A giant wall. It reminded me of 'The Maze Runner' maze walls. We walked over to it. It went up for a kilometer. We were afraid to touch it as if it were dangerous. There was a dusty bronze plate on it. I dusted it. There were words inscribed on the metal.
Property Of H.U.M.A.N.I.T.Y.
I remember Lennon saying something about H.U.M.A.N.I.T.Y. in his speech. I wondered who are these guys, and why did they put us to play this game. Sung Min started walking alongside the wall. We had no plan, so we walked with him. We walked by a group of people, who were sitting on the wall. They stared at us as we went by. They weren't it, but they looked depressed. "What are you looking at, punk," one of them snorted. I turned my head and looked forward. Sung Min and Jae Eun were way ahead of me. I ran to them. I heard the depressed people snicker behind my back. As I caught up to them, they stopped. They were staring at a weeping boy. He put his head up, to reveal his red eyes. We were startled and we started jogging by. He didn't want to go after us. As we walked alongside the wall, we saw more people sitting down, thinking of this depressing situation. I looked at Amy, whom I was carrying. She was sound asleep. Not a worry in the world.
3 hours later
After 3 hours of walking, it got dark. We sat along the wall, trying to rest. I looked up to the sky, it was a full moon. This would be a good time to wonder about stuff. As I looked up at the moon, I wondered about my family, if I even had one. I imagined my mom, a fair lady with light brown hair, beautiful brown eyes, and an amazing smile. Then I imagined my dad, dark brown hair, shaved beard, and hazel eyes just like mine. Sleeping on the wall wasn't going well for me, so I went to a tree with Amy and slowly drifted to sleep.
