Chapter 2: Meeting the Demon brat

Ruby grunts as she lands on the ground, a throbbing pain went through her entire head at the force.

Groaning, she slowly sit up and found herself on top of a mountain. 

"Huh?" she winces in pain as she stands up, rubbing her head she looks around and sighed, "OK, I'm stranded in the middle of nowhere."

She looks at the possible routes she could take.

"Hmm, this way?" she guessed and started walking.

4 hours later she stopped to rest "This is a fine mess I'm in." she muttered to herself.

She was so lost in thought she almost didn't hear the grunting coming from the side of the mountain.

Raising an eyebrow, she looks as a boy that was a year younger than her appeared. "Who are you?"

The boy looks at her in surprised for a good second before he brought out his sword and tried to swipe her.

"Hey! What gives!" Ruby exclaimed as she kept dodging his attacks, that is until his sword met her cape, it shattered into a million pieces.

The reason for this is because her cape is made from polyester and a carbon steel, so it's stronger than the common cloth.

The boy looks at his broken sword in shock but before he could react Ruby brought out Crescent Rose and trips him.

She holds it out to him "Who are you and why did you attack me?" she demanded.

"I should be asking who you are! What are you doing this close to the league of assassin's? are you here to invade?"

Ruby looks at him in question "League of Assassins?" she thinks about it for a moment "You know, I think I overheard something like that once from my uncle Qrow."

"But to answer your question no. I was fighting a family enemy. and somehow ended up here."

"If that's true why are you armed?"

Ruby raised an eyebrow "I was fighting dunderhead, besides if I want to be a future huntress. I have to know how to fight,"

"That's a big gardening tool for animals? What kind of hunter uses a scythe to kill food? Or is it for sport?"

Ruby looks at him like he was crazy "Eww! Not that kind! I meant against the creatures of grim...but in total honesty you're not far off about the animal thing."

"Creatures of grim?"

"Soulless beings that bring pain and destruction wherever they go. So, they have people like me who are trained to kill them. And if you never heard of them, that means A. your home is heavenly guarded; or B. There are no grim in this area"

She scoffs and crosses her arms "A lot of people would find you lucky."

"Your home can't handle a couple of wild animals?" The boy said rudely.

"The Creature of grim are not animals. They may take the form of them, but normal animals don't grow to be the size of a castle!" she exclaimed.

She shifts her eyes for moment in thought "Given the type of grim of course." She added.

As she was about to look at him again her eyes landed on the ground and they widen in pure horror once she realized that they're in a type of purple flower that she's familiar with.

Taking this distraction, the boy trips her and pins her to the ground.

He knocks her scythe out of her hand and threw it out of her reach.

Once he did that, Ruby's eyes glowed in anger, unknowingly to her.

Growling she used her superior flexibility, she rolls them over but he wasn't going down without a fight and it ended up with them rolling all over the place.

"That's it!" Ruby punches him in the face knocking him out cold.

Groaning Ruby immediately got off him and starts to search for specific herbs, it took 3 hours but she finally found all of them.

"That takes care of that" she muttered as she puts the herbs in the small pouch she swears on her back.

Walking back to the unconscious boy, standing over him she lightly kicks his arm "Hey, hey," he didn't move a muscle.

She tried to get him up some other ways but it would seem she really punched him hard.

Sighing, she puts her finger in her mouth and gives him a wet willy, that woke him up "GAAAAH!!!" He exclaimed as he rubs his ear.

"What did you just do?!" he exclaimed.

"I gave you a wet willy to wake you up."

"A wet willy?"

Ruby looks at him in shock at he doesn't know what a wet willy is "I basically stuck a slobber coated finger in your ear."

Once she said that, the boy exclaimed in pure disgust as he kept rubbing his ear "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO REVOLTING!!!?"

"It was a last resort to wake you up. I knocked you out cold for three hours. And I tried everything I could everything I could think off."

"Except Salacia leaves, but I wasn't about to waste my good herbs on you. Except for the antidote."

"Antidote? Did you poison me?!" he accused.

That got him a slap upside the head "Are you brain dead? I'm not a monster. And the antidote I'm talking about to cure our rashes from being in Mot Flowers." She said gesturing to the beautiful purple and black flowers.

"Mot Flowers?"

"They're a type of rare ivy that breaks you out of a rash that can lead to a rare skin disease that'll eventually lead to death if not taken care of in 72 hours. Hence its name, it's named after a god of death in Ugaritic culture."

She points to her bag "And I spent the last 3 hours looking ingredients."

"How did you know you'll find the ingredients here?"

"It's since the ingredients needed grow in mountain climate like this. As do the Mot flowers."

She raised an eyebrow "But the Mot flowers only grow if the soil was contaminated with a dead body And since you're obviously from a league of assassins it's no wonder Mot flowers were growing here."

The boy lightly moves his head to the side agreeing with her on the deaths on the mountains.

"You say we only have 3 days?"

"Yep...." She looks at his neck "Your neck is breaking out badly" she pointed out.

Touching his neck, he groans in disgust at the rough feeling of the rash that went from left side of his neck to his chin.

"What do we need to do?" "Take a long hot bath with the ingredients mixed into the water. But it has to be done in a special way or it won't work."

Groaning the boy grabs her arm and walks away "Come on. It's a 6 hour walk back to my home."

Ruby groans "Great." She said sarcastically.
