|Sherwin's POV|

While I'm making my bed upstairs I hear a car pull up in front of the house. Quietly I make my way downstairs and hide right behind the front door. The unknown person walks around the house for a while before knocking on the door. I jump a bit, nervous since they might be violent. I peek through the peephole to see a young dark haired man, he look tired and slightly bloody. This might be a mistake but I decide to open the door.
"Umm, hi."
I quietly greet him.
He seems to be alone.
"Hey, my name is Jonathan. I was just wonder if I could spend a night here. I'll promise I'll be gone first thing in the morning."
He looks like he actually needs help. I think for a moment. Even tho he could be lying I gotta be honest I could use some company right now.
"Alright, but don't bring any weapons in the house."
He nods and I let him in.
"You live here alone?"
He asks as I guide him to the living room.
"Yes, I actually came here today. My car got stolen and I had to find a place to spend the night quickly."
Should I even be telling him those things...
"I see. Also, I don't mean to be rude but aren't you going to introduce yourself?! "

I blush a tiny bit from embarrassment.
" Ah right. I'm Sherwin. I'm from the nearby city that got destroyed."
His eyes widen a bit and he smiles.
"No way, so am I."
I sit next to him on the couch.
"You are? That's cool. I thought everyone died who were from there."
He shakes his head.
"Nope, me and quite a lot of my friends escaped. We built a big base few kilometers away from here."
A base? Why would we come here if he could live in a secured base.
"Oh, why did you come here then. Isn't it more safe in a base."
He looks down on the floor, his face suddenly filled with sadness. He doesn't say anything for a while.
"The...the base got destroyed, I was the only one who survived. "
I place my hand on his shoulder, giving it a encouraging pat.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I know what it feels like to lose your loved ones."
He's lucky he got his friends trough out the last two months. I was left alone right after the apocalypse started. I try to think of a way to cheer him up a bit.
"Would you like to have a cup of tea?"
He nods, giving me a weak, almost painful smile.
I leave the room and find the kitchen. Filling the kettle up with water I start preparing some green tea I found from the house. I wonder where he'll go next. At least he has a car to travel around with. Maybe...maybe he would like to stay fora little longer. It's scary to be alone. And I feel like I might go crazy if won't meet another person to talk to again. I fill two cups with hot green tea and walk back into the living room. Jonathan I now standing in front of a bookshelf, looking trough one of the previous owners books. I place his cup on the small table next to the couch and sit back down.
"Did you find something interesting?"
He turns around and walks back to the couch, sitting down.
"Yeah, this book is written by one of my favorite authors. I never got to read this one though."
I take a sip from my tea before taking a look at the books cover. It seems to be some kind of romantic novel.
"You can have it if you wish, I doubt the owner will ever come back and I won't need it either"
His smile becomes a bit less weaker than before. He must really love books since he immediately opens up the first page, grabbing the cup of green tea I made in his other hand and starts reading. I quietly stay beside him, every once in a while taking a look at the book as well. We spend a few hours like this, its nice. Feels like having a normal life again. If only.
"Jonathan, would you perhaps like to stay for a bit longer? I-I just thought that it would be easier to survive together."
Gosh why am I so nervous. After all these years I still don't know how to socialize normally. Plus this guy is actually pretty attractive, making it even harder to talk to him.
"I wouldn't mind. Having a new teammate doesn't sound so bad."
He chuckles a bit. I'm glad that he's feeling better now. I let out a long yawn. It's almost two a clock now, time to get some sleep. I stand up, stretching myself.
"I'll go make the bed for you as well, put the cups in the sink for me if you can."
He nods and I make my way upstairs. Good thing this place has two bedrooms. I grab some clean blankets and pillows, placing them on the bed before removing the dirty ones. I hear Jonathan exit the house for a moment, soon returning after. What is he up to? He then comes upstairs and stops on the bedrooms doorstep.
"I took my bag inside. There's some food in there. Thought we might share now since we're a team and all."
I smile happily, placing the last pillow on the bed.
"Oh that's wonderful, hopefully we'll have enough food for a week now. Also your bed is ready."
He thanks me and we bouth head off to bed.
As I'm laying down in bed I can't help but think about how extremely happy I am that I met him. We might even meet more people and form even bigger and stronger group. We should probably go and search the big city tomorrow. Now that most of the people have either died or left the place is a lot more quiet. And since there's so many stores we'll defently be able to find something useful. With those though I slowly fall asleep.
