If Only You Knew

"What are we doing now? Where are we going? When are we going to get th-"

"Shhhhh" Grayson said while putting his finger on my lip." You need rest, I'll wake you up when we are there."

" Ok." The thought of resting sounded great right now. I turned to my other side facing the window. I felt a sharp pain in my side and remembered the previous beating I had. I was to tired to do anything about it though.

I lay there, my eyes getting heavier and heavier, when I heard Grayson whisper, " If only you knew." And with that I drifted of into sleep.

"Salena, wake up!" Grayson said tapping me gently.

I jumped up banging my head on the ceiling of the car." Owwww." Grayson bursted out laughing. "Where are we?"

"At Walmart." He stated matter of factly.

"Why?"

"Because Walmart has everything." I laughed. I got out of the car and we headed off to Walmart.

" I am really hungry." I said.

" Well lets go get some food." We grabbed a grocery cart and made are way to the food.

I grabbed Doritos, Takis, and Oatmeal Cream Pies and put in in the cart. My stomach growled. I am really hungry.

"Hey Grayson, I'm gonna go look for food that I can go eat for dinner."

" Ok. Whatever."he said rudely while grabbing other snacks. I tried ignoring his little mood swing.

I started walking when I stumbled upon heaven itself; Sushi! I walked up and looked at all of the choices. I kept discussing with myself what sushi I should get when I felt arms wrap around my waist. "Hey" I heard him say realizing that voice belonged to Grayson.

He then rested his head on my shoulder and gave my cheek a quick peck." What are you doing?" I asked utterly confused.

" I don't know." He said." Is there a problem?"

I hesitated. I really didn't want him to leave so I said." Yes... I can't choose what sushi to get."

He looked at me, shocked by my answer. "You should get that one." He pointed at the one that I had been looking at this whole time.

" Ok, good choice."

I grabbed it and walked off."Sorry if that made you uncomfortable. Those boys kept staring at you." Grayson said.

I somewhat felt disappointed." Oh... ok." I guess I was to caught up in sushi that I hadn't realized that.

We went and payed for the food. We thankfully had a lot of money left, thanks to the visit to my house.

"Hop in." Grayson said pointing towards the cart. I did so.

He started pushing me across the parking lot towards our car. Grayson started running faster and faster before he hopped on the back of the cart. He then shoved me hard enough to where the cart was rolling without him pushing it."Grayson!" I screamed. I turned around to see the biggest smile on his face. It kept rolling until it hit someone else's car.

"Oh sh*t! "It just left a huge dent in the car.

Grayson came running behind laughing. "Lets go." He then rushed to his car while we both laughed like crazy. He lifted me out of the cart." Wasn't that fun?" He asked.

" Yeah, except for the part where we hit the car." I said. He laughed.

"You are something else Salena." We then loaded all the food into the car and got in as well.

I ate my delicious sushi right when we got in the car. I swear sushi is the best thing ever. Grayson started eating pizza." To our first night as runaways!" Grayson said raising up his pizza.

I smiled. "To our first night as runaways." I said mimicking his motion. I ate my sushi while thinking about the emotional roller coaster that we had been on today. I thought about how Ethan killed himself. I thought about the different side of Grayson I am seeing then the one I saw at school. And I thought about what Grayson meant when he said,"If only you knew."

My dad was cooking dinner while I was writing this chapter so I was really hungry while writing if you couldn't tell! I hope you are enjoying this book so far. Please tell me what you think and what I should do better!❤️
