I try hard to open my eyes but it seems as if my body lacks energy. I can hear my dad talking.
"Where did you find her?" my dad's voice was filled with concern.
I wish I could get up and tell him I was fine. I was just okay and he did not need to worry.
"Sir she was just jogging I assume. I was passing by, I asked if she needed a ride home but she kind of... collapsed," an uncertain voice answered back to my dad.
I pushed myself the hardest I could. I was able to open a centimetre of my eyes when the tiny ray of light shot to my eye and I had to shut it back.
"Maybe she was not well. She could have just called me," my dad said, worried yet again.
"She will be fine sir." The uncertain voice made me curious. I tried my best to listen but no sooner, I was covered in black clouds again, falling deeper into the pitch of darkness.
🌸
I come back to life again as I hear a man speaking to my dad. The voice is different from the one I heard before.
"This is due to high stress levels. You would need to keep her away from work or studies for a while. Let her rest. There is nothing more you can do."
The instructions make it clear that my dad is conversing with the doctor. I flinch in pain suddenly and I feel a hand on mine.
"Hey, are you okay?" this voice is the uncertain voice again I thought but the touch held concern that I could not let it go.
I tried to open my eyes and they hurt. They hurt like I had never been exposed to light before. But this time I was determined to let it hurt me as much as it could. It still couldn't manage to break me like Harper Anakins did I thought. So I pushed myself and the hand on my side held me firmly.
"Relax Katy. Don't force this."
I hear footsteps then. "Is she waking up?" my dad sounds relieved.
"Sir, don't allow her to force herself awake. She has been given high potency painkillers and this might take time," the doctor instructed.
I should leave fighting and just sleep I thought. But my dad was holding my other hand now and I had to defeat this... I had to fight to wale up and assure him that I was just fine. And just like that, I kept fighting until my eyes opened gradually and I saw my dad let out a sigh of relief.
"Katy? Katy.... are you... are you okay?" my dad was tumbling over his words.
I nodded as slightly as I could and this is when the other hand left mine and I faced Matt Foyld. He was still there!!
I shrinked my eyes in confusion and he smiled back.
"You are a fighter Katy," he winked. But I could see the hidden fear and worry in his eyes. He knew what really happened.
My dad stood there, caressing my hair and smiling like a goof. It looked like he had just breathed after hours."Sir I think you should rest. You can call in early morning and we can change shifts then," Matt offered.
My dad looked at me and I could see tiredness dripping through his eyes. I held his hand and told him that I would be fine.
"Ohkay. But just in case, call me if there is any trouble," with that my dad wrote his number on a piece of paper and handed it over to Matt. He kissed me on my forehead and forced a last smile before he walked out of the room.
