I got home and put all the shopping away. I tidied up the house a little bit. Putting used tissues in the bin that were scattered everywhere. It was 10 o’clock at the moment, and my date was tonight. What do I wear?! God, Sienna, you have like eight hours to figure this out. I didn’t know what to do for the rest of the day.
I decided to visit Andy.
I drove my way further into town and that’s where the traffic got worse. I think there was a major accident on the roads. I was listening to the radio and they did a traffic report. Apparently, a Ferrari had hit a semi-trailer. Both drivers were alive, but the man in the Ferrari is in critical condition. To be honest, I felt sorry for the man about his car, not him being in the crash, well maybe a little, but still, that’s a really expensive car, like real expensive.
I parked my dodgy little Peugeot 207 next to an Audi R8 and entered the shops. I checked my phone as I heard my message tone beep. I smiled as I saw the name. Niall.
‘Um, so sorry about this, but I have no choice but to bring Harry (the one who dated the 32 year old) along as well. If it’s a bother, you can cancel. xx’
I smiled at the text, a plan forming in my mind. I texted back.
‘Oh, it’s absolutely fine, but is it okay if I bring one of my friends along? xx’
I walked into a store and started looking through clothing.
‘Yeah, as long as you come ;) it’s a double date then! xx’
‘deal. xx’
I put my phone away and asked the person behind the counter for Andy.
“Yep, she’s just over there in the Dangerfield section,”
“Thanks,”
I headed over there, and saw she was dealing with a customer.
“No, I’m sorry, but there are no sizes for 10 anymore. Everything is sold out.” Said Andy, she seemed a bit annoyed at this customer. The customer just nodded and stormed off.
“Hey Ands, what was that all about?”
“Oh she wanted this dress in size 10 but there weren’t any left. She like shoved me into the storage room to go find another in there.”
“Did you have another dress?” I asked curiously.
“Um, yes, but it would’ve looked way better on you, so I kept it hidden,” said Andy cheekily. I just shook my head in reply.
“Let’s see this dress then,” I sighed, I never really liked dresses. I could deal with skirts and stuff, but I don’t know about dresses. Andy turned towards the storage room while I waited outside, tapping my foot.
“Tadaa!” sang Andy as she came out of the room. I have to say, the dress was cute. It was like a skater dress. It was navy blue and reached just above my knee caps. It was a really casual dress, but still cute. It’s possibly something I could wear for tonight…
“Well?” asked Andy impatiently, cocking her hip to one side. I just beamed at her.
“Love it. And also, I have a little surprise for you, whens your lunch break?” I asked, as I took the dress from her. We walked over to the register and I handed over some cash- oh crap, I’m out of money. I turned to look innocently at Andy;
“Staff discount would be absolutely grateful right about now,” Andy whipped out her card and swiped it.
“Dude, you need to pay an extra five bucks,” I looked pleadingly in her eyes. “Fine, I’ll pay for the rest.” Sighed Andy, giving in.
“Anyways, whens your lunch break?” I asked as the lady behind the register handed over my receipt and my dress.
“In five,” checking her watch.
“You can go now, I’ll cover up,” said the lady behind the counter, her voice unusually deep.
“Thanks Han,” waved Andy.
We walked out of the store and headed for the food court. We ordered some food; obviously Andy bought it seeing that I had no cash- I must get some money from the ATM before tonight.
“So what’s this surprise?” she looked a bit thin, way too thin for my liking. The girl needs to put more weight on. She was on the verge of being anorexic- I hate Brian for doing this to her.
“Um, well you know about how I met that guy this morning?” she nodded, signalling for me to continue, “well, I ran into him at the supermarket.” I gulped, maybe it’s too soon for her. Should she be seeing other guys this soon? –Gosh, I never think things through!
“Okay, what did you do?”
“Well, he asked me out on a date, and he sent me a text afterwards saying that he has to bring his friend along and then I said I would bring you along.”
“Oh,”
“If it’s too soon, I can ca-“ she just cut me off- Bitch.
“Is his friend cute?”
“I’m assuming so,” I said cautiously.
“Count me In. Ooh, you can wear your new dress! What am I going to wear? Maybe that new top I bought the other day! And that-“
“Wait, so your fine with it?” I said cutting her off-hah, payback.
“Yea,” she saw the worried look on my face, “Look, Si, it’s been a while now, and I think I’m ready. And who knows, this guy might be my everything or he could just be another guy. What’s the point of finding someone if you’re not willing to take risks?”
“You make a valid point.”
“Good, now what time is this date? I finish at five, remember?”
“Oh, I forgot to ask!”
“You forget everything,” muttered Andy. I just rolled my eyes at her. I whipped out my phone and texted Niall what time the movie is.
“We are watching the movie at six-thirty and hanging out after and eating ice cream. Sound cool?” I asked Andy, reading from my phone. She just plainly nodded her head. We scarfed down our food, and I made her eat my fries.
“Oh, crap. Gotta go, Michelle is going to kill me if she finds out I’m late. Bye, love!” She jumped up from her seat and headed straight towards Meyers. I lost her in the sea of people crowding around shop windows and lining up for fast food outlets. I slumped in my seat, bored out of my brains. What am I going to do? Its 1 o’clock and my double date is in five and a half hours. Maybe the traffic cleared up a little, better get going if it hasn’t.
I sat in the car tapping my fingers against the steering wheel, waiting for traffic to move along. I had the radio on and started singing along to it. I was belting out lyrics not realising that my window was down and that the man next me could hear absolutely everything- Well, that’s not awkward. Who cares? ‘cause you know, YOLO.
“Here is One Direction’s hit single ‘What makes you beautiful!’” announced on of the co-hosts on 2Day-FM. The song started playing and to be honest, it wasn’t my style, but I really liked it. Its probably one of those ‘one hit wonder’ songs, like what happened to ‘We the Kings’ with ‘Check yes Juliet’? I tapped my fingers along to the beat and started catching onto the lyrics.
“That’s what makes you beautiful, oh oh!” I sang, forgetting that my car window was still down. I changed lanes in this slow moving traffic; staying in the same spot was just to awkward.
