"Good morning, dear." Murmured the soft voice of Tess. Darkpaw blinked open her eyes and stared up into the cream colored tabby's blue eyes.

"Mmmm... Good morning Tess." Meowed Darkpaw as she sat up on the twoleg item she had slept on through the night. The bed was softer than any moss she'd ever slept on. Darkpaw stretched her claws and purred. Suddenly she felt a stinging in her aide as she remembered her wounds. She quickly lay back down on the cushion and lapped at her healing wounds.

"How do your wounds feel ,Dear? Are they any better than yesterday?" Tess asked Darkpaw as she put her pale paw over Darkpaw's wound on her side.

"Yes, it feels so much better than it did before. Thanks for treating my wounds, Tess." She purred. Tess nodded.

"Alright then. Let me go grab some more poultice to put over those wounds for you." She meowed as she gave Darkpaw a swift lick on the top of her head before she bounded over to where her herb stock was located. Darkpaw flicked her tail and yawned. She looked around at her surroundings and noticed a stack of boxes that led up to the top of a twoleg nest and the tall, dark, brick walls going high up into the blue sky. Tess walked back over and started rubbing the sour smelling poultice on her wounds. Darkpaw purred as Tess rubbed on the herbs, soothing her aching muscles and stinging scratches and bites.

After Tess finished she looked at Darkpaw's thin stomach. Her ribs were beginning to show through her thick dark tabby pelt.

"Would you like something to eat, Darkpaw. You look like you've been starving yourself!" She meowed.

"Well, maybe It's because I have been starving myself." She purred with amusment. Tess shook her head a chuckled.

"Alright, stay right here. I'll go grab you something to eat." When Tess came back she had a leg of what looked like a absurdly large bird with no feathers and odd golden brown in her jaws. Darkpaw cocked her head at the strange thing as Tess laid it down on the gravel floor.

"What is that thing?" Darkpaw mewed. Tess nudged the leg forward. "It's chicken. This is what your supposed to eat." Darkpaw looked at Tess as if she had grown a second head.

"You're expecting me to eat that? She hissed crossly. Tess rolled her eyes and flicked her tail with annoyance.

"Oh, you forest cats, why must you be so picky about everything? Just try it and see if you like it. It's twoleg food."

Darkpaw sniffed the piece of food and turned her nose away.

Tess lashed her tail at Darkpaw. "Ugh... Do you want to starve to death or not?" She hissed in annoyance. Darkpaw leaned her head down and took s bite out of the chicken. Her eyes lit up as all kinds of different flavors hit her tongue.

"Wow! That was delicious!" She meowed as she took another bite. "This is better than any fresh kill I've ever had!" Tess nodded. "Mhm. I knew you'd like it.

After Darkpaw finished her chicken she got up and limped over to Tess who was sorting out herbs.

"Tess? When did you ever learn so much about herbs?" She questioned the senior rogue. Tess froze and her ears went flat against her head. "W-well..." She stuttered. "Come, sit over here." She lead Darkpaw up to the stack of boxes leading up to the roof of the twoleg nest. Darkpaw sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws as Tess cane and sat beside her. They stared out at twolegplace from the rooftop.

"So how did you become so good at using herbs, Tess?" Darkpaw asked again.

"Well, when I was born, I was a BloodClan cat. My mother's name was Sand and my father was named Knight. I had a brother by the name of Chaser for his swift speed. My mother was the Healer of BloodClan. In the BloodClan customs, all cats had to depend on themselves, except for Scourge. All mothers had to train their kits. My mother was Scourges healer. So when Chaser and I were born Sand trained us to become Healers like her. She taught us everything there is to know about being Healers and taking care of Scourge when he gets badly wounded."

Darkpaw was astonished. "Then what happened?" She asked as Tess paused.

"Ok let's see.. Oh yes. One day when my brother and I were around 8 or 9 moons old, we were coming back from herb collecting in the forest when heard the yowls of Sand, Knight, And Scourge and smelled the tang of blood coming from Scourge's alleyway. Our mother was lying on the ground dead. Our father Knight was standing over her crying, his eyes blazing with hatred, anger, and saddness. Scourge was sitting a few tail lengths away, licking our mothers blood off of his small white paw. Scourge had killed our mother."

Tess's voice again to tremble. "Sc-Scourge lounged at our father and sunk his teeth into the back of his neck. Knight dropped onto the ground, dead. Scourge turned to us and and ordered us out of his alleyway and get to work fixing up herbs. From then on, Chaser and I became the Healer's of BloodClan. But once the battle between the Clans and BloodClan came and Scourge was killed, we all spilt apart and that was the last of BloodClan. It was also the last time I ever saw Chaser." She sighed and fell to the ground. She out her paws over her muzzle and sobbed quietly.

"It's ok Tess." Darkpaw murmured. Tess looked up at her.

"What do you mean ok? I have nothing anymore! I have nobody to keep me company and give me any simpathy." She cried." Darkpaw rested her head on Tess's shoulder and whispered into her ear- "That's why I'm here. I'm never leaving, Tess. I'll always be here for you." Tess purred.

"And so will I..."
