Do you remember

the humid, rainy days

the cool, fresh breeze

and the stubborn patches of snow

refusing to melt as the weather got warmer?

Do you remember

the shy, delicate buds

the vividly-green grass

and the brilliantly bright wildflowers

scattered everywhere, like sprinkles on ice cream?

Do you remember

the sweet, crimson strawberries

the tart, midnight-colored blueberries

and the pale pink cherry blossoms

their petals falling from tree branches like drizzling rain?

Do you remember

the cheerful, gurgling creek we visited in the morning

playing in the crisp, cool woods in the afternoon

and staying out till dark

in the balmy, velvet dusk?

Do you remember

the little silver fish weaving in and out between the rocks

the robins and swallows singing their chirpy greetings

and the timid, furry rabbits

hopping away as soon as we got too close?

Do you remember

those hopeful spring days

giving us something to live for

in the dead of winter's icy realm?
