Chapter Nineteen

"I met a beautiful girl one day and her eyes shone like she had stolen the sun but her smile seemed empty and her voice would not echo and she said she could love no one. So I guess it made sense that I loved her like death, while she kissed my lips and left them swollen and bloody. It made sense that she could only love no one because I was such a god damned nobody." ~K.P.K.

*Caleb's P.O.V.*

I knew something was up the moment I walked into the house. Luke was sprawled out on the couch with Captain America playing on the television and Arizona was nowhere to be seen. Everything was just too quiet for the two of them together. I walked over to my best friend and rolled my eyes. Of course he would be the one to fall asleep on the job. I grab the discarded pop can on the coffee table and chucked it to wake him up from his slumber.

"Wake up Sleeping Beauty," I said which triggered Luke to silently whisper swear words targeted towards me. "Where's Ari?"

"Haven't seen her since I feel asleep. She answered a phone call in your office if that helps any." Luke answers, before turning around and trying to fall asleep again.

"Thanks man, your lazy ass can sleep again." I say as I start to head upstairs.

He gives me a thumbs up and I chuckle to myself. Arizona and him are so alike sometimes it scares me. I head up to the office and open the door to find a window propped open and Arizona no where to be seen. I walked over to close the window so leaves can't get into the office, when something on the desk catches me eyes. It's a note.

Curiously I grab the note and inspect it. I have no doubt it's from Arizona. You can easily tell be her signature messy scrawling. Since her handwriting is so terrible it takes me a while to read it, but once I do my eyebrows furry in confusion. "I didn't want to leave you."

"What does that mean?" I whisper to myself. "Only one way to find out."

I set down the note and I start to search for Arizona, but even after searching the whole house, I couldn't find her. I head back to the living room to tell Luke about how Arizona is missing.

"Hey Luke, I can't find Arizona and she left my this really mysterious note and I-" I stopped after I saw the look on Luke's face.

"Caleb, Arizona is gone." Luke exclaimed with his shocked facial expression.

"Define gone." I say with my eyes narrowing.

"As in willingly left to go back to John."

"What? She would never do that!" I exclaim. My heart racing.

"Well see for yourself." He says as he hands me my phone. There's a missed call on the screen with a voice mail message. It's from an unknown number, but from what Luke said I know it is from John.

"Hello Caleb. I'm just going to go out on a limb here and assume that you already know Arizona betrayed your trust and left you-" John starts until a voice in the background interrupts him.

"I wouldn't have left him if you didn't threaten me you arse!" The voice in the background says. I can tell instantly that it was Arizona. No one else would disrespect a Beta like that. She's never really cared for ranks.

"I don't need your interruptions right now Darling, although I never thought you would have came back for him," John says, "Anyway I just wanted to let you know that it's useless to try to go after her now. She's mine. Just like she's always been." John says and then the message ends right at that moment.

After the message I just hold the phone in shock for what seems like ages. Luke doesn't say anything, he just sits there on the couch waiting for my reaction. When going to blow up. I hate to be so predictable, but that was exactly what I was going to do.
