"Okay, kids", Aizawa spoke using a monotone voice, "today's class will be... fairly normal." He pulled a few batons out of his shirt (how the hell did he keep them there?) and tossed them on the grass, keeping eye contact with his class. "We're gonna race. With these. Y'know those stupid relay races? Yeah, those."
Midoriya blinked at the teacher, raising his eyebrow in confusion. He turned to Uraraka, who was doing the same. Actually, the entire class was looking blankly at Aizawa.
A pink hand suddenly sprung up from the small crowd of students, waving obnoxiously. "Can we use our quirks?!" Mina asked, enthusiasm practically pouring out of her. Aizawa groaned, obviously annoyed with her excitement. "No", he replied. "This is simply an exercise to strengthen simple teamwork."
"Can we pick our teams?" Denki asked abruptly.
"Can we pick which batons we use?" Uraraka eyed the pink baton, a smile spread across her face. Tsu's tongue flicked out as soon as she noticed the other girl's fixed gaze to the baton. She reached for it, her tongue stretching out to grip around it. With a deep sigh, Aizawa used his quirk to stop hers right before she touched the baton, flashing the rest of the class a glare immediately after. "No, and no", he said, answering the two questions thrown at him. "Everyone shut up while I pick groups."
Groups were picked randomly. Aizawa simply pulled names out of a box, as they had done for All Might's hero vs villain training the second day of school. The groups, placed in order from last to first, were:
- Midoriya, Iida, Hagakure, Aoyama
- Uraraka, Yaoyorozu, Ojiro, Denki
- Jiro, Bakugo, Tokoyami, Tsu
- Todoroki, Sero, Mina, Kirishima
- Mineta, Shoji, Koda, SatoBatons were thrown at each group, and were given to the person running first. Kirishima cheered when he got the red baton, while Uraraka frowned as she saw Denki being given the blue baton. She glanced at the other groups, noticing Tsu waving the pink baton around. God damnit, Tsu!
As soon as the groups were ready, Aizawa explained the rules for anyone who hadn't been in a relay race before.
"Okay, listen up. You'll all line up in horizonal rows, spread across the length if the track. The first person will run to the next person, and pass the baton on. The next person will do the same. Understand?"
The class hummed in understanding, nodding their heads slightly. They quickly learned the techniques for passing the baton, and then got in lines to start the race. Aoyama, Denki, Tsu, Kirishima, and Sato held their batons in their right hands, and stood at their respected starting lines. The rest of the students stared back at their starters, readying their stance.
"Uh- go."
