they painted the kitchen white with utensils on the walls in some places, the main bathroom mint with white and purple swirls, the living room grey with yellow chevron, their own room a tapestry of color and paint splats.
their bathroom was their ongoing project. at the end of each day, they were going to paint a different color stripe on the wall.
"so you remember how long we were married for, forever," jordan whispers. her eyes prickle with tears. lainie was hoping the stripes would never stop being painted.
there were five stripes at that time.
