I shove Corban.

"What the hell was that?" I yell at him.

"What was what?" He asks. Corban stands up from his warm spot under the heater in the train.

"You were supposed to go to Erudite! You are so NOT cut out for Dauntless!" I shove him again.

"Neither are you!" Corban steps back.

I let out a long growl.

"Oh, you do not know how long I have been waiting for this day and you're going to get in the way of my initiation!"

"People are staring," Corban says.

"Let them!" I stop talking and look around. People are staring. I lean against the wall and slowly slide down.

"Don't get killed. Or make some mistake that gets you killed. Okay?" I tell him.

"Okay. I won't," he says. He pulls his hand out of his grasp on the pole to keep steady and slowly slides it towards me. I quickly jump up, away from him.

"They're jumping off the train," I say. Person after person, all the Dauntless are jumping off of the train onto a building. There is a gap between the track and the building, and it's a far drop.

"Let's go then." Corban stands up and looks out of the train car. It's our turn now. I back up and get a running start and jump off the train. The wind gets in my eyes making them tear up and I land. A sharp impact is sent through my body and I'm weak with pain. Nothing broken. Corban jumps off after me, barely catching the roof. He pulls himself up, I am too pumped up with adrenaline to help him. Some people miss the roof and fall to their death, but I ignore them.

"Are we doing it again?" I ask.

This is the life I was meant to live. I was not meant to be peaceful. I was meant to be brave, and I can't wait to see what's next.
