Beautiful Beginnings - Weight of the Past

This weight; dragging me down
In the deep waters,
Drowning me in the past.
I've not yet learned to swim
With this weight.
As Poseidon claws at my battered body,
I struggle to pull myself away,
To free myself from his powerful grasp.
But still,
This weight of the past is tied to me,
Holding me back.
The knots impossible to undo,
I must be strong enough to reach the surface.
With every ounce of strength,
I break the surface.
But yet,
Poseidon still holds tight;
Still I must fight
The weight of the past
