Masks and dresses...the thick smell of expensive perfume and aftershave mixed together with heavy fumes of cigar smoke and food. Low hanging chandeliers fill the huge room and music wafts lazily in the air. It's almost surreal...like a different world. I follow Clay and Flynn into the room, half in a daze. I grew up in a villa with everything I could ever imagine but this mascaraed ball is screaming money....like millions. Everything shines with diamonds and gold and rubies and gems...it's enough to make a homeless person cry...I mean bleddy hell! Just one of the golden plates would feed a family of five for a year,
"Can you see him?" Clay mutters softly to Flynn,
"No...he won't be out here yet...dad always waits half way" His brother mutters under a black diamond mask,
"Best just enjoy the party then" Clay grunts with a sarcastic chuckle. I join in softly and blink around the room...apart from the fact that every now and then someone walks through me I'm glad I came...this is the end game...the last level. I have no idea what will happen tonight but I'm not leaving,
"Oh! Where's your dress? Did it not work?" A soft husky voice mumbles behind me. I jump slightly and twist around to stare at white hair and blue piercing eyes blinking from behind a dark night sky mask,
"It didn't feel right" I mutter as my cheeks start flushing...what the hell? Why am I blushing? I don't like Gabe....I love Clay and he's the...
"Did you hear me?" Gabe is speaking I realize and shut down my whirling mind, "Why didn't it feel right?"
"Because....that was what I was like when I was alive" I grunt, feeling embarrassed for my honesty, "I've changed now...I'm dead" I say softly,
"Yes...yes Scarlett you are" Gabe nods softly and then his blue eyes rest on Clay...a look of pure sadness fills his face and he turns away,
"What is it?" I ask...my voice is a mere whisper under the whirling music. Gabe walks away and I follow because for this moment...this part of time I have to know...and Clay will just have to wait a second. Gabe steps through a door and then we're outside on a stone balcony. The air is light and cool..the stars just beinging to shine down from heavens, "What's wrong?" I ask again. How can anyone look as sad as him? I've never seen a face filled with such loneliness's and pain...and his eyes are ageless as if they have been in the world for a thousand years. Gabe lifts his mask from his face and stares at me in silence...the wind calls down from the skies and rustles the leaves flickering his golden hair and I wait...wait for him to tell me....
