Hayli walks into her old bedroom and lets the bags fall from her arms. She looks at her full size bed that is in the far right side of the room, the dresser with the mirror on top on the opposite wall. The chocolate wall color with the creme color bed and the dark color funiture. Everything was left the way it was when she left. She grabs her bag and throws them on the bed before falling down on it as well. She looked up at the ceiling going in her thoughts.
"Okay Hayli, what next?", she thinks. Well, she needed to find a job, that was for sure. Then she could go from there. She lifts herself off her bed and walks down the steps. Stepping into the kitchen she sees her mother glowing with joy.
Hayli knocks on the wall to announce that she was there. Kathy turns and looks at her daughter before flashing a big smile. She goes and gets the two cups of coffee she prepared and sits at the table, patting the chair near her for Hayli to sit down. Once seated, Hayli reaches out and grabs the cup, sipping on the coffee.
"So," Kathy starts "How long are you planning on staying."
Hayli sighs "I don't know, how long am I welcome?"
Kathy raises her eyesbrows and reaches out and grabs Hayli's hands. "Honey...what happened? Wheres Michael?" At the mention of his name it made Haylis skin crawl. Her parents always thought Michael was a great man, beside her moving away with him to North Carolina. They always thought that he would treat her good and her mother told her time and again that she hoped that they would get married someday.
She sighs and looks at the coffee. Her palms get sweaty trying to think of a way to explan her situation to her mother. She rolls up her sleeve to get some air.
"Uhh...its hard to explain." Hayli says looking up at her mother. But Kathy wasn't looking at her, she was looking at Haylis arms. Hayli looks down, completely forgetting the brusies in the shape of fingerprint all over both of her arms. She quickly pulled her sleeves down.
"Mom...umm..Im going to go to the store." Hayli jumps up taking the keys out of her pocket running toward the door. She needed time to come up with a good explantion about the bruises. She can hear her mother calling after her but she ignore it and keeps moving until shes in her car and takes off in the direction of the nearest store.
She look down at her arms, wincing thinking about Michael tough hands tighting around her arm when she didn't cook the dinner right. She wipes a tear away and see's the store coming in at the distance.
Arriving she parks the car and gets out walking toward the enterance. She walks in, thinking of something that can help take her mind off shit. "Beer" she says to herself. She opens the door feeling the icy breeze hit her face as she reaches for the first beer she can get her hands on.
"Well well well. If it isn't Hayli Partridge." Hayli froze. She knew that voice. The last time she heard it, it was laughing at her with her cut hair and a pair of sissors in his hands. She turns with anger in her eyes and faces the bully of her high school days.
"Jake Taylor."
