6th year 1943,
Hogwarts"Yes, Moon, I infact did decide to accept your invitation and come to your family's party. It is quite something, I must say."
Tom said while looking at Marcella."Well, it's very nice that you came."
She said to him, while staring at him with a bit of wonder in het gaze, as she still couldn't believe that he actually came.
"I must introduce you to my parents! They would love to meet the boy who helped me make the Drink of Despair."
She said with excitement in her voice, forgetting about the other boy sitting next to her completely and focusing on Tom Riddle instead."I would like to meet your parents as well."
He said with a dashing smile and a peculiar glint in his eyes.
"Malfoy."
He then said to the boy sitting silently on his chair."My lo-"
He began but stopped once his eyes looked at Marcella.
"Riddle, it's nice to see you here."
He then said."Well, I shall see you later on with the rest of the boys. Don't be late."
Tom said while looking at Malfoy with a dangerous look."Are you coming, Riddle?"
Marcella asked, holding his arm."Of course, lead the way, please."
He said, his expression changing into his usual dashing self.
It didn't take them long before they found Marcella's parents."Father, mother, this is Tom Riddle. He is the one I told you about, the one that helped me out with the Drink of Despair."
Marcella said with a smile on her face."It's very nice to meet you mister and misses Moon. What a lovely house you have and this party is quite lavish too."
Tom said with his signature smile."Thank you very much, Tom. Me and my wife were quite impressed with your self made potion and impressing my wife with a potion is quite a hard thing to do."
Leonard Moon said laughing."Yes, very impressive indeed. The name Riddle doesn't sound familiar in my ears, is it a... muggle name?"
Gillian Moon said with a smile that could only be described as fake."Yes, it is a muggle name, but I am a halfblood. My mother was a witch, actually."
Tom said still holding his facade, while he was fuming on the inside. He hated being confronted with his heritage. His filthy muggle name always reminded him of the mistake his mother made all those years ago. The mistake that eventually got her killed and got Tom in the predicament he was in now.
"How... interesting."
Misses Moon said, with a hint of dissatisfaction in her eyes.
Tom hated the fact that she didn't seem to like him, but most purebloods didn't because of his bloodstatus. He would make them like him with his golden tongue."Yes, it is. I must say I thought you were Marcella's sister before you introduced yourself, misses Moon. Have you per chance managed to develop an anti-aging potion?"
He then said."Oh, boy! Of course not, I am a good potioneer, but not that good yet."
She said laughing as a blush covered her cheeks."Well, it wouldn't surprise me if you did manage to brew one. I have only heard such grand stories about your achievements in the potion making world. I myself am a big fan of potion making."
He said."You flatter me too much, thank you. You two must go and enjoy the party now. Have fun!"
She said giggling while holding her husbands arm.Tom held his arm out for Marcella to take and saw her eyes staring at him in amazement.
"How did you manage to charm my mother?!"
She said whisper-yelling."I just have a special charm."
"You are truly fascinating, Riddle. A true manipulater."
She said laughing a bit, not yet realizing how true her words are."Would you like to dance with me, Marcella?"
He asked, and she immediately blushed because of the use of her name.Tom Riddle never called people by their first name. Never.
"Yes, I would like that... Tom."
She said as he went to hold her by her waist. She felt his strong hands burning on her waist, as hers wrapped around his neck. They slowly started to move with the music and Marcella truly enjoyed herself.
She looked up through her lashes to see Tom already staring at her, so she immediately looked away to hide her embarrassment as she bit her lip.Tom smirked when he saw Marcella looking away. Her cheeks red, her eyes downcast and her teeth biting her bottom lip. Not only was she truly a sight to him, but were the signs she was showing ones of attraction.
The little raven liked him, he thought smirking even more.
He looked up and noticed his group of followers looking at him and Marcella with confused and amused expressions. His expression immediately became one of anger as he told them off. Those baboons didn't know a thing. They were headless chickens following Tom in every way he went.
Some did it for future fame, some because they craved a strong leader, some because they were pureblood fanatics and some because they plainly feared Tom.
They weren't his real friends, but that didn't matter for they are useful now and in the future. Some of his followers like Orion Black, Rudolphus Lestrange and Abraxas Malfoy came from very influential families and those ties would surely be of great use for recruiting new followers for Tom's cause.
The new recruit he, however, now wanted for his group the Knights of Walpurgis was none other than the girl that was currently dancing in his arms, with her head resting on his chest.
The smart, but easy to manipulate girl would do his group well.
"Tom, I have to go great the Lovegoods. Will I see you later on?"
Marcella asked."Of course. You're a very good dancer, Marcella"
He then said."T-thank you."
She said before walking away as quick as she could.Tom seemed to manage to make her heart beat faster with a simple complement or even a simple smile.
He watched her walk away and then turned to his group of followers, who where waiting for him in an empty corner.
"My lord."
They all greeted him."It is very fortunate that Moon invited me to this ball, since none of you imbeciles could. Now at least make yourselfs useful by introducing me to your family members and friends, everyone that could be a potential new follower."
Tom said with a stone cold expression."If I may ask, my lord."
Adam Avery said."Yes, Avery."
"Why are you so interested in the Ravenclaw girl?"
He asked and it seemed that every follower of his was interested in the matter."It is not of your concern. The girl is a possible follower. I will recruit her and when she will be a part of the Knights of Walpurgis we will have a great advantage for not only now but also the future."
He answered."But... if you just want to recruit her, why would you dance with her?"
Avery carefully asked."Because none of you domwitted idiots understands that the key to a girl's loyalty is her affection. You will regret questioning your lord's motives, Avery."
He said with a venomous tone as every single one of his followers seemed to cringe away in fear.Just the way he liked it. Fear was the way to keep everyone in control. Without fear they would walk all over him, just like the children in the muggle orphanage used to do before he went to Hogwarts.
Once Tom has made a name for himself and his Knights he would be feared by everyone. People would tremble at the mentioning of him, for he would become the true Dark Lord.
