Leah's POV

"Matthew please pick up," I murmured. I held her phone tighter. I felt the silence wrapping around her, beside the death taking rings. " Matthew if you don't answer right now I'll-"

"You'll what?" Matthew yawned.

"M-Matt!" I exclaimed, "Happy Birthday!" I started to fidget with my hair.

"Thanks Leah," Matthew replied casually.

I can't believe this guy! He is usually excited! What happened now? I'm worried about my friend I'll always be there for him. He's like my brother.

" M-Matt a-are you okay?" I tried to show I wasn't worried,"You're usually excited about your birthday." Silence. Of course, I would've hung up, but it was his birthday. I felt like I did something wrong. Did I push him too far?

"It's okay Leah. I'm very excited," he replied sadly, and hung up.

I stayed there. Not moving an inch.I pushed him in many places. But, this is the first time I have pushed him in a place I shouldn't have. I

felt like I punched a hole in his heart, and left it to burn.I hung up the phone and started to sob.

Between sobs I cried out,

"Why! T-Tell m-m-me the t-truth! Are you-u real-ly my friend?" I flopped my head into my pillow.

I sulked in despair. I couldn't stop crying. I wanted to know what happened to him. Even though I've been his friend for as long as I could remember. I smiled. I remember that day as if it were yesterday.

*FLASHBACK*

"Leah this is Matthew Williams, Matthew meet Leah Stratford," mother said.

I looked behind my mother's legs. He looked like me age, four. His blonde hair and ice blue eyes stared back at me. I stood straight and stopped hiding behind my mother legs.

"Hewwo?" I asked.

He jumped, startled from my reply. He swayed foot to foot and looked at his shoes. "Hi," he said.

"You don't wike me?" I asked, crying. He looked up from his shoes and started to tear up.

"Yes I do wike you! Please no cry!" I stopped crying and smiled. I took his hand and shook it.

"Pwomise that we will be fwiends?"

"Promise!" He repiled.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I loved that day. I love spending time with him. Sighing, I still don't know what wrong. Please tell me. I sobbed once more. I calmed down after my stomach started to growl. Slowly and quietly, I opened the door and tiptoed down to the kitchen. I opened the fridge, the cold air greeted my face and made me shiver.

"C-cold!" I whispered.

I looked around, nothing easy to grab and eat. Pissed off I slammed it shut. I crushed to the sound listening if my parents woke up. I couldn't reach the freezer. I took the stool I use to help cook with my mom and placed it by the refrigerator. I grabbed my leftover vanilla sundae and stepped down. Seven year olds can be sneaky too! I grabbed a spoon and ate the cold dessert. Sweet. After I finished I placed the bowl and spoon in the sink and raced up the stairs, sugar rush. I opened the door to my bedroom and closed it.
