Moved Away

Lucas

Moving to Onett was... Hard. Really hard. Saying goodbye to all of my friends was hard. Saying goodbye to the fresh air was hard. I even went and said goodbye to all of the frogs I met. Everybody had to move away from Tazmily because the newly elected mayor (I think his name was Fassad or something) had sold it to someone. The entire place. Even Alec had to move away, I think.

So here I am, sitting in an abandoned treehouse surrounded by trees in Onett. It's the closest place to home I'm going to get.

There's a few strange things about me that people will probably shun me for. I have something known as PSI. Not much, only a couple moves. A 'Magypsy' taught me them. Magypsies are strange, to say the least. I have PK Love (which is apparently a very strong attack) and Offense up (which makes me stronger for five minutes or so).

With a sigh, I lay down, my pale legs hanging out of the doorway (which is just a hole with a ladder on the side of the tree). My view of the roof is half obscured by a rotting table. Onett is a big place with a lot of people. It's a very happy and humorous place compared to the sadness Tazmily had developed.

There's a lot of things in Onett to find, little funny people that say certain things. Especially that person who asked me about the Beetles. Who is "The Beetles"? The answer isn't Noterday, that's for sure. Eagleland is very strange. It's a lot more crowded, with taller buildings and harder, discoloured ground. In Tazmily, all we had was a dirty path for a road, these people have concrete.

It's almost too much for me to handle. They have these things called "Cars". They make smoke and are loud. Apparently they're very dangerous, too. I stand and sit on the rotting table, looking out of the crude window. Beside it are some names carved into the wood. Ness and Chuck are the only viewable names. One of them is scribbled out and the rest has been corroded from the rain.

I'm so lost in thought that I don't hear the footsteps coming up the ladder.

There's a knock on the floor as somebody with a red and blue cap stands after climbing up the ladder. His shirt is striped, similar to mine. His shirt is blue with yellow stripes instead of yellow with red stripes, however. He has messy black hair poking out from underneath his cap. He has shorts that are more saturated than mine and a slightly sunburnt face. I notice two yellow straps on his shoulders. A bag.

I quickly stand from sitting on the table and grab my elbows. I can feel my face flush red.

"Hey." He says cheerily. He has a deep voice, sounding more mature than me despite him being shorter than me. The boy also has broader shoulders and stronger looking arms.

"H-Hi." I say. Don't mess this up.

"I'm Ness." He says, smiling.

"I-I'm Lucas." I say, my blush dying down.

"Are you new here? I haven't seen you around before." Ness asks.

"I-I come from T-Tazmily."

"Tazmily?"

"I-it's far away."

"Oh. Why're you up here?"

"Ex-Exploring Onett." I can feel my face turn red again.

"Huh. This used to be my  buddies and my treehouse."

"It-It's pretty g-good."

"Thanks."

A moment of silence.

"So what's Tazmily like?" Ness asks.

"I-It's farmy. Like a gr-great big farm." I explain. So it goes on like this for a while. Maybe Onett won't be so bad after all. Maybe I can tell someone about my PSI. Maybe.

Ness is nice. He's patient and listening. I think he also has a very nice face. He definitely has a girlfriend. I stare up at the ceiling of my room in the dark. The full moon is drifting through the curtains and settling on the floor, giving off a slight glow. I turn the other way, facing a wall. I push my hand against the wall and feel it. It's rough, with slight bumps and very cold. I hug my blanket tighter around myself, retracting my hand and closing my eyes to sleep.

Don't worry, I know how to spell "The Beatles".

But Lucas doesn't so have a nice day bye.
