Lucas

"B-B-But aren't you g-going out with P-Paula?" I ask. Ness furrows his eyebrows and shifts uncomfortably.

"Not if you say yes, Lucas." He says after a moment of hesitation. My face grows hotter. Of course I want to be his boyfriend, but I don't want to be responsible for Ness and Paula breaking up.

"I don't want t-to be the cause of you and Paula breaking up..." I say quietly.

"You aren't. And you won't be. It's my fault." He says, taking ahold of my hand. I melt.

"A-Are you sure?" I ask slowly.

"Yeah. I'm sure." Ness says with a warm smile. I nod.

"Y-Yes. I-I want to b-be your boyfriend." I say, my face turning red and an unstoppable smile plastered across my face. Ness blushes and smiles too.

"I think we should go home now, though, " Ness says. "I'm going to break up with Paula tomorrow."

"Okay." I whisper, rolling over and nuzzling into Ness's chest. He wraps his arms around me and lifts me up in a bridal position. I yelp at the sudden movement and he soothes me with a kiss on my forehead. I blush and he begins carrying me towards the hotel.

"I'll run into Twoson tomorrow. You tell your dad about the house and see if he can help you fix it up." Ness says, keeping his eyes forward.

"Okay..." I say quietly, snuggling into Ness's chest. I'm getting sleepy again. Maybe if I just close my eyes for a little while...

Ness

"Could you repeat that, Lucas?" I ask, not having heard him properly. He doesn't answer. I look at him and see that he's sleeping. Quite adorably, in my opinion. I smile and kiss my boyfriend's forehead. My boyfriend. My heart skips a beat and I smile widely. Ah! I have a boyfriend now! AH!

I arrive at the Onett hotel and reluctantly wake up Lucas. His eyelids flutter open and he blushes when he sees me.

"Hey, buddy, " I say. "Do you remember what happened before you fell asleep?"

"We were... Looking at the stars and then..." Lucas yawns. "Y-Y-You asked m-me out..."

His eyes widen and he jumps out of my arms before giving me the tightest hug I've ever been given. Maybe. It can rival the one that my mom gave me when I came back from fighting Giygas. Pretty tough hug.

"I-I need to go... I'll tell my dad about the house! Bye bye! Sweet dreams!" Lucas calls out before entering the hotel. I smile goofily and head back home. Hopefully mom isn't awake.

I knock on Paula's door. The blonde opens it and sees me, her face instantly softening.

"Nessie!" She's smiling. She looks so happy. Oh God, this is going to be hard. "You didn't tell me you were coming over, I really wasn't expecting you to be... Are you okay?"

Oh, ouch, oof, this isn't going to feel nice. For either of us. "Paula, I-"

I'm interrupted by a sound coming from Paula's room. I lean my head around to try and see what's happening in her room. It can't be her cat, it's lying down in the corner of this room. I go into her room. If another invasion is happening and stuff is coming back to life, I need to know.

Inside the room is a person, trying to hide underneath Paula's bed. I drag them out and they cover their face. What...?

"Who? Why?" I say. I turn to Paula, whose face has shock on it. I don't enjoy reading thoughts, I think of it as an invasion of privacy. Sometimes, you suspect something and you know those people won't give it up. Those situations are where I allow myself to read thoughts.

"Oh no, what if Ness finds out in cheating on him? Quick, make up a story, MAKE UP A STORY!"

"Paula, are you... Cheating on me?" I ask in disbelief.

"What? Ness, of course not! Why would I ever cheat on you, that's just stupid. Why would you even think that!?" She says, getting upset. I look at her in disdain and tap my temple.

"Paula. I can read your mind."

"I-I-I... " She looks down at her feet.

"I'm breaking up with you." I say, going to leave.

"Ness, no, we can work it out, right? Right...? Ness...?" She asks. I ignore her and head outside. I hit the end of my feet against the pavement to shake off any dirt and begin running.

"PSI Teleport!" I yell and begin running, soon skidding to a halt outside of Onett's hotel. I look up at the building and turn towards the house I gave to Lucas. Let's see how they're doing.

Lucas

I hear the door open and I look over to see Ness in the doorway, a triumphant grin on his face.

"Hi, Ness!" I say, smiling and waving, a hint of red in my cheeks. Ness smiles and waves back.

"Hey, Lucas." He says, his grin growing ever wider.

"Thank you so much for the house. Thank you." I say. Ness shrugs.

"Nah, it's alright. It's pretty dingy and ruined, so I'm surprised you actually took it." He says, glancing around.

"Dad and I have really done a number on the place." I say, pointing to the floor. It's mostly been redone.

"I can see that... Good job!" Ness smiles, one hand on his hip and the other giving me a thumbs-up. I grin widely because holy heck he's adorable.

"Uh, dad's out getting some more stuff for the rest of the floor, he also says that maybe we can give it a basement too." I tell Ness. He runs up to me and gives me a hug. I yelp in surprise before hugging back and giving my boyfriend a small peck on his forehead.

We stay embraced for some time. Ness let's go and looks into my eyes, blushing. I blush too and Ness quickly plants a kiss on my lips. When he pulls away, I can barely breathe. My chest is tightened and my stomach has that feeling you get when you have a crush on someone. Indigestion? Probably.

I hug Ness before going back to my previous job, moving the filthy furniture out. Ness joins me and together we clean the house out.
