The small council was gathered in a lavishly furnished and highly guarded room. It was officially known as the Inner Chamber of the King Regent, but Mal liked to refer to it as the Royal Panic Room. It was built very much like a panic room; it had the space to house thirty and keep that many fed for a year at least. It had been maintained by the royal family in case of attack for hundreds of years, and had been imbued with enchantments periodically ever since. It was as if the room knew who was welcomed by the royals and who wasn't. Supposedly, if the room deemed someone unworthy to enter, that person couldn't get past the door.

Even more than magical protections, the entry is located in the King's chambers, and is thus in the most heavily guarded section of the castle. Lastly, the mere existence of the room is a closely guarded secret, known only to a few.

When Mal was first shown the room, it was a very drab affair. The walls were granite, and the floor was flagstone. As far as furniture went, the room possessed the bare minimum. There were two canopy beds at the very end of the room for the use of the royal family. Fourteen smaller, less ornate beds lined each wall for the other inhabitants of the shelter. In the very middle of the room was one long table with two large chairs at the head and tail. A bench provided seating on either side.  There was an offshoot of the room that contained a fully stocked pantry, and a preparation area. One section of the wall had been lined with swords and spears. Stacks of crates with other necessities lined another section of the wall. The rest was just cold hard stone.

Since then, Mal had stylized it. She had removed all furniture, except for the two large beds. She had a purple, green, yellow, and blue carpet laid; the colors of her and Ben. She replaced the small and rickety beds with wooden bunk beds, and put a tapestry with the royal insignia in between each one to brighten up the room. She replaced the one long table with smaller couches and individual chairs, each with personal tables. At the end of the room closest to the door, she had had a large TV put on the wall, so that the inside of the room could remain connected with the outside world. Couches and chairs were in a u formation around it. It was in this seating area that the seven of them now sat.

Mal, Jay, Carlos, and Evie (who had arrived just a few minutes prior) sat on the couch directly in front of the TV, in that order. Fa Mulan sat to the left, Fairy Godmother to the right, and Ben stood in front of everyone. Ben was giving the reason for their separate meeting.

"I have called this meeting of the small council in order to discuss the details of the plan. We could not hope to get everything accomplished with the full council; just one topic took an hour. And so I have summoned only those that are absolutely essential to this meeting." Ben finished, and nodded to Mulan.

"Right," she said, "there are several things we need to discuss. First off, how are we going to get you to this land?" Mulan stopped, obviously as stumped by this dilemma as everyone else.
