Vulpix woke up. Not that it was odd or anything, but from the fact that she stayed awake. Before that, whenever Vulpix awoke, she would look around start to get confused and then go straight back to sleep. Therefore when she finally woke up and stayed up, it relieved Sylveon greatly.
  "It's about time!" He cried.
The vulpix just looked drowsily at him, "Oh," she said.
Oh? Sylveon thought, is that all she is going to say? He responded with, "Er, are you ok? I mean, being knocked out and all is pretty normal. But from the fact where you were was just odd."
Vulpix showed no signs of... of anything but blankness. "Yeah I guess," she said.
The room that they were having this situation in had walls made out of sticks. This might sound like it would be flimsy but the builders put a lot of effort in to it. Theses wall could withstand more than a gust from a pidgyot, but the roof would not. It was made out of leafs so if a strong wind blew, goodbye roof.
"Good, good," he said as he let out a sigh of relief, "it was just weird, you did this thing where you would just wake up and then fall back to sleep."
  "Yeah," Vulpix replied, "I know."
"You... knew?" This confused sylveon, "and how is that?"
"Well I was tired, but now I am hungry." The nest in the middle of the room with a bedside table was indeed quite comfortable.
"Of course your hungry, what would you like? We have Oran berries, red and green apricons, an-"
"Do you have cake?" Vulpix questioned the sylveon.
"Cake? What's cake?" this was a new word to him and he was yet again beginning to be concerned. Patients spewing out gibberish can be a very bad thing.
Vulpix hesitated, "....Cake is a food item that is... yummy."
"That is very unspecific, are you sure your ok? How about you tell me your nickname."
At that very moment Vulpix realized something. Oh I'm a Pokémon, she thought.
"My nickname...," for Vulpix this was a very difficult choice, "how about Ruby?"
"Ruby, a lovely name," Sylveon said, but in head, 'how about'?
