I sat at the couch, still shaking. Partly because of the fact that my throat almost got slit but I must admit that I had been cowering because of my attacker. Her eyes were the epitome of pure horror. Looking at them made me want to think of death, bloodbath, killings and a lot of other bone-chilling stuff.
"Kate are you hurt?" Brittani asked. The sequined top she was wearing underneath her white cardigan was torn, exposing her navel and her arms were covered with scratches.
"Who was th-that" I stuttered "What happened to you?"
She sighed. Her gray stormy eyes were heavily planted on me. Then she finally spoke,
"I'll explain later, but for the mean time you need to come with me. It's not safe, we're in trouble."
"What are you talking about?" I grimaced in confusion "Who did this?" I touched her arm, turning it to examine how bad the cuts were.
"Kate, Do you trust me?"
"Of course I trust you. And you know that,"
"Then come with me. I'll tell you everything you need to know. But not right now, we're running out of time." She pleaded desperately.
I was worried that Brittani got herself in serious trouble. But then again I can't just leave her. Brittani stood up for me every time I got bullied by mean girls. I must do the same.
"Okay, I'll come with you. But you must promise to tell me what's happening."
She was about to say something but a knock on the room got us both to our feet. I stiffened, who would knock on your door in the middle of the night?
"Don't open it," I begged.
Brittani unbuckled her boots, revealing a sheath of knife.
"Nice boots. Do you got them at Target?" I teased.
"Stay back,"
"That I could do." I got off the couch and inched away from the wooden door while Brittani cautiously approached it, blade in hand, ready to swipe at our unexpected visitor.
She placed her hand on the knob, turned it then swung the door open. Brittani slashed at the guy incredibly fast but he blocked it with a broad bronze sword about three feet long and a half foot wide. The guy just raised his thick brown eyebrows and Brittani sighed as she backed away.
"It's fine, Kate" she reassured me. "He's our escort"
The boy had dark brown hair long enough that it covered his ears and forehead, his eyes were in a calm and lustrous shade of blue and his face was slightly round with soft olive-toned cheeks. He was two feet taller than me. He's wearing a sky blue polo-shirt and black denim jeans. A silver chain bracelet was tied around his wrist.
"Hello, Brittani." He spoke with such friendliness and I immediately thought that he would have been the kind of guy that worked behind the counters or waited at a regular diner wearing the same warm smile.
"What took you so long?!" Brittani wailed. "you should have been here an hour ago."
"Im sorry, there were ... other matters."
"Could there be anything more important than her?" She held a hand towards me.
Whoa. I was important.
"They wanted to send Cassandra instead of me" a tiny hint of grim crept in his voice.
Brittani's expression darkened, something about this Cassandra girl did not made her feel very thrilled and for a while the room was filled with silence.
