"Good morning, Sadie," Nikki murmured, gently shaking my shoulder.

I let out a muffled grumble and pulled the blankets up to my chin, hoping that Nikki would leave me alone if I buried my face far enough into the pillow.

"You gotta get up, kid. I gotta go meet Mick, and your mom will want you home. How are you feeling?" he asked, stroking my hair lightly.

"Like I want to sleep."

"It's almost one; you've slept for half of the day."

"Fuuuck." I sat up slowly, my head pounding as I tried to blink the blurry vision away.

"Yeah... here, take these," he instructed, handing me a couple of painkillers and a bottle of water. "They should help a bit."

"Thanks." I took the pills and looked around, rubbing my eyes. "So, this is where you this is where you live?"

"Yeah, temporarily. Like I said, Mick and I are gonna meet up and go look at apartments. Co-renters," he explained with a chuckle.

"Cool. What about Tommy?"

"He can come if he wants to, but he'll have to help pay the rent if he wants to live with us. I talked to him about it; he sounds interested."

"He probably is. Our mom is making him crazy lately. She's stressing him out over school and shit, but he wants to do the band thing, and it's just-" I waved my hands around, "a lot going on. He wants out. I get it," I mumbled with a shrug.

"Your parents seem pretty cool, though."

"They are, but Tommy can only take so much seriousness before he spontaneously combusts," I joked. "By the way, where are my pants?"

"In the chair next over there."

"Thanks. Anywho, Tommy will probably take you up on your offer, so you might as well take him with you."

"I'll keep that in mind."

He watched me as I pulled on my jeans, bouncing on my heels slightly as I did so.

"So, do you want to go get breakfast or anything? You look like you're dying."

"Thank you, Nikki, you know exactly what to say to a girl... that just woke up... and is hungover."

"Hey, I try," he joked, grabbing a leather jacket. "C'mon."

"Where?"

"Breakfast?"

"Sixx, I don't have any money."

"I'll pay; you worked last night, so it's my treat."

"I didn't work last- what?""

"You got Vince for us."

"Did I?"

"I'm pretty sure you did."

I shrugged, too hungry to argue.

"She didn't say anything?" Tommy asked in disbelief.

"Nope; didn't suspect a thing," I said as I sat on his bed. "I mean, she was surprised to see me walk in with Nikki, but I just told her that we happened to be in the same café this morning."

"Smart. Is he still here?"

"Yeah, he's talking to mom... or he's in the bathroom. Somethin' like that."

"Those are two very different things, Sadie," he replied with a laugh.

"True, but whatever. So, are you going to get an apartment with Mick and Nikki?"
