"Rose can't I go to school with you today? Please, please, please! I'll be good." Lily begged. She hugged her old stuffed bear against her chest.

"Sorry, Lily. You can't." I told her. She was still in her pajamas and her curly blonde hair was a mess. "You need to get ready for school."

"C'mon Rosie, pj's to school is the new style anyways." Xander grinned.

"Your not suppose to be over here." I glared at him. "This is the girls section, no boys until after school hours." I started to cut apples for Lily's lunch box.

"When did you become such a rule person?" Xander asked. He brushed his fingers instinctively through his hair.

"Since I found out if you get one more demerit, you'll get suspended." I told him.

He grabbed my shoulders and spun me around. The knife in my hand slipped and sliced my finger, but I tried not to let the pain show on my face. I didn't need Xander to worry about me. He was always really overprotective, already.

In a few seconds, nobody would be able to tell anything happened, anyways. My finger was already healing. I can heal incredibly fast. Faster than any other human. I guess the cells in my body reproduce faster or something.

I looked up at Xander. He didn't look much different than when we met three years ago. He still had the same dark blonde hair that went into his eyes, and the same goofy smile. But now he was at least 6 inches taller than me. I had to look up just to look him in the eyes.

"Xander we are going to be late for school, again." I mumbled. I tried to break free from his grasp, but I couldn't.

He leaned in close and whispered, "Maybe we should just skip school, today. Take a vacation day?"

"You don't get vacation days for school." I said stubbornly.

"Wait. Can I come???" Lily jumped up excitedly. Her big blue eyes begging. When Lily gives me that face it reminds me of when she was just a little baby, almost seven years ago.

"School doesn't even matter until high school. We should enjoy the last year we have left." Xander went on.

I sighed. "So Xander, where are we going?"

We walked for a long time. I watched Xander carry Lily on his shoulders. She still clutched the stuff bear mother gave her before she was gone. Dead. It's been almost three years since the car accident, but even the thought of her feels like a stabbing pain in my chest.

"We're here!" Xander said loudly as he set Lily on the ground.

We were on top of a cliff covered with over grown grass. Over the edge was a city full of lights. It was beautiful. I sat down letting my legs dangle over the edge. Xander sat next to me.

"Hey Lily," Xander turned around, "I think there are some raspberry bushes over by the trail. We'll catch up with you in a few minutes." He said.

"Okay!" Lily said excitedly. She loves raspberries. Mom always used to make them in pies. I hate that my memories of her are fading. Her thin blonde hair and gentle blue eyes. Lily looks so much like her.

"Rosie, are you ok?" Xander seemed serious. Which was unusual. "You've been acting strange lately." Xander always acted like my big brother. Even though he was barely three monthes older then me.

"I'm fine." I lied. He shook his head. "Ok. I'm not. Okay?!?" I felt heat rising in my cheaks.

He backed away slightly and it made me feel bad for blowing up on him. What is wrong with me?

"I'm sorry. It's just-" I stopped. I knew what was wrong with me. I just didn't know how to say it.

"You miss your parents?" He asked, as if reading my mind. "You don't need to apologize." He smiled. "I'm kinda hungry for raspberries." He stood up and then helped me off the ground.

"Do you ever miss your patents?" I blurted.

"No." He said without pausing for a second. I waited for him to tell me more as we walked down the path but after a while I knew he wasn't going to give one. He never talked about his past. Maybe because I never asked about it before.

Then I heard a scream. My heart stopped. We started running faster and faster. Then I stopped suddenly. I saw her small limp body, being thrown into a truck.

Blue mutant type things started jumping from the back of the truck. They were the same color as a suffocating baby. One smiled at me showing a mouth full of needle pointing teeth.

I could barely hear Xander murmur something under his breathe. Then they attacked us, biting and clawing. I punched and kicked, but they didn't stop.

"Lilly!" I screamed. As one of the creatures punched me in the throat and I felt like I was suffocating. I looked around helplessly, but I couldn't see Xander anywhere. He was by the truck. He grabbed her small hand. He could save her. Then he let go. In the same instant I heard a gun shot go off.

I could only here an engine starting. After a long time all of the creatures left, climbing into the truck. I stood up and felt like I was going to fall over. My cuts healed in mere seconds.

Xander stood next to me. His eye was black and blue and his nose looked broken. His side was a little bloody, but he didn't seem to notice much. They shot him. He could tell I was staring at his bloody shirt.

"I'm fine. The bullet just skimmed me. You ok?" His words were a little hard to understand. I nodded.

Then tears started falling down my cheeks and I couldn't stop.

"Lily." Was the only word I could whisper. She is the only family I have left, I can't loose her.

"We have to go after them!" I screamed. "We can't just let them take her."

"We can't catch up to that truck." He told me. He held me tight against his chest. I couldn't stop crying. I looked at the ground to find the old teddy bear. It was covered in dirt. I wanted to start crying again, but I wouldn't let myself, not while she is still in danger.

"We will find her. I promise." He said firmly. "And," he paused, "I think I know where they took her."
