The two of them broke apart briefly to look each other in the eye before Roman passionately captured Virgil's lips again. Despite it stinging slightly, the Slytherin kissed back with just as much force. His lip was going to feel sore for a while after this, but in that moment he really couldn't care less.

Roman snaked his arms around his waist, causing him to gasp. He blushed dark red as he remembered his exposed torso. Glancing over at his discarded shirt, wondered for a moment if he should ask Roman if he could put on his shirt before they continued. As the Gryffindor pulled him closer however, Virgil let his worries slip away, letting out a sigh as Roman's lips pressed to his own once more.

"Have I mentioned how badly I've been wanting to do that..." Roman murmured as they pulled away. Virgil blushed with a smile as he shook his head, hair turning soft pink and yellow. "I really really like you Virgil..."

The Slytherin's heart fluttered in his chest as he met his gaze. "I-I return y-your feelings," he stammered nervously. "And thank you, you know, for everything... the first hot chocolate, every time we've met up since, and helping me when Brian..."

Roman gently cupped his face as his voice trailed off. "Virgil?" he started. The Slytherin was already listening, but the Gryffindor was so nervous that he felt the need to make sure. "I- um... will you be my boyfriend?"

His eyes went wide at the question as Roman blushed. "I-I k-know we're going to the ball as each other's date, but I didn't think that made us boyfriends, and I really really like you and would be honored if you would give me the pleasure of being your boyfriend," he said fairly quickly.

Virgil leaned in close, smiling. "It would be MY honor to be able to truly call you my Prince," he said softly, cheeks and hair bright pink as he look up into his eyes. Roman smiled wide, not being able to resist closing the gap between them with another kiss.

The Slytherin reached to take his hand when both of them broke apart and froze. Virgil felt something warm and liquid on Roman's hand, his hair turning lime green. The Gryffindor had hissed sharply and winced in pain. The two of them looked as he raised the hand, revealing it to be far more damaged than it had been before, and bleeding.

"Damn it..." he hissed as he clutched his bleeding hand. "I punched without thinking... it didn't even occur to me that I already had a busted up hand..."

Virgil was silent before he grabbed his shirt and pulled it over his head. He tugged on his hoodie and stood up, slightly shaky for a moment before steadying. Roman watched him from the ground, utterly confused. "That's it, you're going to the Hospital Wing," he said firmly.

"What? No! Virgil it's not that bad!" he protested as he stood up. The Slytherin gave him a look that said, 'Do I look like an idiot?' and continued to rinse out the wash cloth they'd used before returning it to the shower stall. "Why do I have to go for my hand if you won't go for all the shit Brian did to you?"

"I've only got a few bruises and cuts, and they've been healing on their own just fine for four years so far," Virgil said, voice trailing off slightly near the end as he grabbed Roman's none injured hand. "You're a valued member of the Gryffindor quidditch team. You need to be more careful."

Roman huffed as he was dragged toward the Hospital Wing. "I don't care how much I bust up my hand, if he touches you again I'll beat his face in," he muttered, sending Virgil's heart in a spiral of jumps as he smiled slightly.

No one's ever cared about me like this before, he thought as his hair turned soft pink. What did I do to get lucky enough for Roman to like ME of all people?

"HEY VIRGIL!"

The Slytherin halted in surprise as a familiar Hufflepuff rushed up to them. "Oh! Hi! You're Ro- no... no yeah, Roman right? Chaser for Gryffindor?" he asked with a bright smile. Said Chaser nodded bashfully. "Hi! I'm Patton, a friend of Virgil's and- wait a second..."

The two of them were tense at the way his voice trailed off. "Are you holding hands?" he asked suspiciously. Both of their gazes went wide as they dropped hands with blushes evident on their cheeks.

"N-No," Virgil said cautiously. Patton was scowling at him as he leaned in close. His silence made The Slytherin's hair go lime green. All of a sudden the Hufflepuff was squealing and jumping up and down. Roman looked at Virgil, who merely shrugged in confusion.

"YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU VIRGIL!"
