The last few months of their fifth year at Hogwarts seemed to go by too quickly for Roman and Virgil. After the Gryffindor's incident, he didn't go back to his private practices; the time he'd usually spend routinely repeating exercises he instead spent holding his boyfriend close to his chest and running his fingers through his hair. However, they didn't spend all their time together.

The artist was working with his Hufflepuff friend in secret, making sure his surprise for Roman was perfect and ready for the last day. "Do you really think it's ready?" the Slytherin asked him nervously.

"I promise, he'll love it, Virgil," Patton reassured him, smiling warmly. He smiled a little in return as his friend put a comforting arm around his shoulders.

The day they departed for home was growing too close for any of them. Roman wasn't ready to have to say goodbye to his boyfriend, worried for him. While he was able to help him while they were here together, he wouldn't be there to talk him down if he should have a panic attack. That thought alone made him sad, causing him to sigh heavily and frown as he thought about how hard it was for him. Virgil didn't want to go back home. While he typically felt out of place anywhere, at least at Hogwarts he had friends and a boyfriend. At his home, he was alone. He'd miss seeing Roman every day. He'd miss the feeling of his lips, of his hand in his. He'd miss the sound of his voice and his beautiful laugh. His hair would turn deep blue whenever he remembered they wouldn't be seeing each other over the summer. While Patton and Logan had it easier with their small distance between each other, they were still not in their ideal situation. Logan's parents insisted on pushing him in academics, even during the summer. The Ravenclaw would be limited to sending only one owl a week to his boyfriend, but once a week wasn't nearly going to be enough for Patton. The Hufflepuff had a love-hate relationship with summer; while he enjoyed the warm sun and beautiful days it brought, he usually spent it contemplating himself alone, given that none of his friends lived close enough to hang out with. He knew it was going to be torturous now that he and Logan were dating. The two lived in neighboring cities, but there was a very slim chance Logan's parents would let him go out with a friend.

When the final day came, none of them were ready.

The four of them walked side-by-side to the train, the two pairs holding their significant other's hand. They boarded the express, finding a car to for them to share on their way back to Platform 9 and 3/4, where the four of them would then split apart to go their separate ways home. They started reminiscing about the school year.

Patton and Logan both poked fun at the other pair about their dancing in the snow before the ball, while Roman and Virgil countered by bringing up how long they had been pining for each other but never said anything. They talked about getting butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks, going to the candy store, and eating "Every-Flavor Beans" in the Hufflepuff dorms. They joked about their classes and some of the teachers. It felt like it had only been ten minutes when the express came to a stop at the station.

The four of them share sad looks as they reluctantly departed from the train. Once passing through the barrier, they all stopped, knowing what came next. "Well, I look forward to next year with you guys!" Patton said, putting on a bright smile as he hugged Roman and Virgil. He and Logan told them goodbye and began to walk towards their trains. When they reached Patton's, they stopped, sharing sighs. "You'll write to me, right?"

The Ravenclaw smiled sadly, taking both of his boyfriend's hands in his own. "Of course, every week I'm allowed one owl, and I promise I will always get that owl to you," he said, making him smile.

"I'm still going to write to you every day," Patton admitted, earning a small chuckle from his boyfriend. "That way you can write a response to everything I say at the end of the week, and I'll feel less lonely."

Logan nodded, agreeing to their plan. The Hufflepuff suddenly gasped and dug into his bag. "Oh! Here! I made this for you, so you have a little something to remember me by over the summer," he explained, handing him a magically crafted flower crown. "The flowers are magic, so they'll never die, and they'll actually allow you to feel how I'm feeling."

"Really?" the Ravenclaw questioned in awe as he accepted the gift. Once it touched his hands, he felt a surge of warmth and affection, making him smile. "What all this I'm feeling from you?"

Patton giggled a little bit, pulling him by the necktie so that their faces almost touched. "My love for you, you nerd," he said before connecting their lips softly. They stayed kissing each other for a moment longer before they reluctantly pulled away and said their final goodbyes. When Patton sat down on his train and looked down at Logan still on the platform, he smiled sadly, feeling hopeful that this summer would still be pleasant.

Roman and Virgil's goodbyes were a lot harder. The Slytherin was almost in tears, as was the Gryffindor as they hugged each other tightly. "I d-don't want to go..." Virgil murmured, hair deep blue. The Chaser pulled away from the embrace to press their foreheads together.

"I know, love," he replied quietly, reaching up to hold his cheeks. "I promise I'll write to you as often as I'm able. In fact, every night at 10:00, I'll stop whatever I'm doing and think of you for five minutes. I'll talk to you, and tell you how I miss you and how much I love you, even though you won't be able to hear me; but now you'll just know that every night, I'll be doing that."

The artist smiled as a tear rolled down his cheek. Light pink strands of his hair fell into his eyes. "What did I do to deserve you?" he whispered, shaking his head. He reached into his bag, pulling out a small box. "I made you something..."

The Gryffindor gasped as he opened it, seeing a shimmering gold ring inside. He stared at it, speechless. "I-It's not a wedding ring or anything, but it's a promise ring," he explained, taking it from its box. "I made it the best I could, and on the inside, I-I carved a little message for you."

Roman took the ring from him, tilting it to see the inside. His eyes widened as black letters appeared, saying 'My Prince <3'. He knew what it was referring to, smiling wide as he slid it onto his left ring finger. Without another moment's hesitation, he pulled his boyfriend into a slow and passionate kiss.

"I'm going to miss you, so, so much," the Gryffindor murmured. "I promise you that the second I see you next year, I'll be here kissing you like this. I love you so much, Virgil."

"I love you too, Roman," the Slytherin replied as they reluctantly pulled apart.

The Chaser saw his hesitant glance at his train, smiling as he bowed to his boyfriend. "Until next year, my love," he said, earning a smile from the artist. He nodded, getting onto his train. From his seat, he watched his boyfriend smile at the ring and head to his own.

Virgil sighed, voice quiet as he smiled sadly and murmured to himself.

"Until next year..."
