After finishing our food, we started heading out. I took my the time and observed the neighborhood. It wasn't that bad actually. Better than the other ones we have been to. Our last foster homes usually took place in an ally or somewhere noisy and filthy. But this is actually nice. Its clean, not as much trash on the floor. the houses are beautiful and large. there are people walking there dogs are playing with their kids or just having a good time. Everybody seems really friendly and polite. It almost seems to good to be true
"which house was it again?" Soda interrupted my thoughts
"I'm not sure" i reply slowly while looking around for anything that looks familiar. Crap.
"Are we lost? we cant be lost, Not on our first day. No, shes gonna think we're to much of a hassel. Shes not gonna want to keep us. Shes gong to send us back to the office to find another foster home. NO!! I like it here. People are actually nice, and caring and you don't smell Marijuana on very damn corner" I tug at my hair in frustration before I feel Soda's finger tap my shoulder. He points in the direction behind me and sure enough there it was, the big white 'mansion' with wide, clear windows, a black roof and an old black door with white spots covering it.
I let out a deep breath and look back at Soda who is smirking before walking towards the house, him a few feet behind me.
"Well, at least I know what you think of this one" he whispers in my ear and me, responding with a dramatic eye roll.
.........................
"How was the cafe?" Marebell asks as we take off our shoes and place them near the door mat.
"It was wonderful, thank you so much" i assure her with a warm smile. And she returns the same one.
Soda immediately reaches for the couch. We've been to 5 other foster homes, this being the 6th one, so Soda has gotten used to not being as polite as i try to be. He believes that no one will ever adopt us because of our dad, so he try's to act like he doesn't care, but i know him better, I now that, secretly he has hope that we will find a good home one day.
"So since you guys will be here for quit some time, maybe we could think about school. We only have about 3 High Schools around the area and i can make some calls and and you to the best one. Wallfort High School"
"Oh no, that's okay. Really" She has already done so much by taking us in i would feel greedy if she sent us off to school.
"Oh hush. You guys are kids, teenagers. You need education, you need school. You need to have some what, of a regular life. I'm going to call the chancellor of the department of educating and getting you two in that high school. You are going to go have regular lives, even if i have to force you" She feels bad fr us, I can see the pity behind her eyes. But i don't want her Pity. I want her to know that as long as we have each other we will be fine, forever and ever.
"okay" i sigh in surrender
"okay then...well let me show you guys to your new rooms, i don't want you guys sleeping in the living room anymore"
"we slept fine in the guest room last night" i assure her
"Oh no no dear, you guys are getting your own rooms. You would have gotten them sooner but i had to clear all the stuff out and buy bedroom furniture. So you are getting your own room whether you want it or not."
"If you say so" excitement clear in my voice
"follow me" she smiles, clearly happy that she could help us.
We oblige her command and follow her up the stairs and she guides us down the hall into the second door on the left. Iv never seen the upstairs part of the house and its just a hallway with 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms.
